Still looking for a lighter weight chopper. Had a Rat Mastiff a while back and it was one of my favorites. Which Busse would you recommend with a comparable "feel"?

Thanks,

GregB

Well, there's the SHBM, but good luck. Maybe a BM-E?

Never had a BM-e, but I've worked with an NO-e and I did have a Mastiff at one time. Judging from the handle shapes of both, I'd say the BM-e was a good suggestion.

ZTBM??? ;)

There are two steals on the XC for SHBM's right now. Wish I hadn't pulled the trigger as fast as I did 3-4 weeks ago. (Shocking!) Heck, I'm still surprised at the BBSHSH deal that's on there. Dangit!

I'm cheap and broke. I bought an 870 and an AR at the gun show this weekend. I've been drooling over a Springfield Armory Socom for over 2 years (have passed on several at @$1200) and I haven't been able to justify that purchase yet so the SHBM is out for me right now, unless I find someone willing to sell me an affordable user. I had a BME, didn't really suit me. I've got the NMFBM, arrived yesterday, but I'm looking for something a little bit lighter and maybe a little shorter to wear while doing yardwork. The AK pokes me in the armpit:D

p.s. I actually had a SHBM for a short period of time. Really liked it, but after air chopping with it, felt it would be a pinky pincher and even then I couldn't justify keeping it since I knew what it was worth.

So what's wrong with a CG FBM? Nice size, not too heavy, great chopper and they are pretty available at some good prices.

I was thinking of letting mine go when the NMFBM came out but have since then changed my mind....it's too good of a chopper.

Get one with mags bro....you won't be disappointed.

I tried the CGFBM with standard scales, tried the FFBM with standard scales, tried the FFBM with mags. The FFBM with mags came the closest to being "it". I've been thinking a CGFBM with mags might be worth a shot. About the only CFFBM that I haven't tried (with the exception of the .27 SE's).

IMO the FFBM and the Ratmastiff are pretty far apart in the weight/handling categories.

However, if the FFBM wasn't far off, maybe you could 'roid up for just a few weeks and this one might feel light. :p :D

How about a thicker FSH of some sort?

What kinda 'roids you talkin' about? I don't want you anywhere near my 'roids with that thing!:eek:

When I get my NMFBM, I'm going to take another Battle Mistress shot.

I'll try to remember and get out the RatMastiff to put alongside a few of the knives.

Really, the more I think about it, the more I think that the FSH will be close.

I don't know though. The FSH's have never been my thing. I only have a MOASH.

I've had a 5/16 straight handled FSH and a 07 SE (.310?). Both felt way way too heavy for their length, IMHO. I handled a standard FSH at Blade '07 and liked it. About the only E handle that I really liked was/is the Uncle/Mr. Mofo. I handled the Chopweiler at Blade this year and it just didn't "do it" for me. I do like the Scrapyard Yardguard and for the money I may start there and go with either a Battle Rat or FSH.

That settles it then.

You need a RatMastiff. :p
