Which busse is about the size and shape of a fallkniven f1 or slightly larger? I'm Looking to upgrade my F1 at the 2009 Blade Show. Any suggestions?

Fallkniven F1:
Length Overall: 8.3"
Blade Length: 3.8"

Euro4 is probably the most similar size wise although its a much thicker blade. F1 is a great blade but Fallkniven's have handles designed for small hands. They would probably increase sales dramatically if they would add some length in the grip.

BA III

In the Busse family there is also the SR Howler.

Those and my F1 are among my favorite (and most carried) knives.

meaner street. Sar4 if you can go up an inch

Wrong answer:thumbdn: No way is the SAR4 anywhere similiar to the F1:confused: Have you ever held or used an F1:confused:

Going to be expensive to replace a $100 F1 with a $500+ BA anything IMO:eek:

LOL. But it's probably 5x the knife. . . if you need to use it to climb Mount Everest or something.

You can get a military Meaner for reasonable money these days. I think there's a 3-series knife on that other place with the bidding and stuff. More $ but more a straight-handle design.

What, pray tell, is someone needing an F1 sized INFi knife to do that the F1 can not do? In this size knife, the true value of INFI is less than in a larger chopper sized knife. In no way should one being doing 'work' with a knife of these dimensions to put excessive lateral stress on the blade. The SAR5 is the better move UP from the F1 size IMO/E. Larger blade dimensions all around, and more handle.

Since im so wrong I will retract my previous statement, however, eventhough the sar4 is larger than an f1 it is the only recently introduced busse that is even close in blade length. I'm sorry if I did the board some disservice, or hurt trackers feelings.:)

Blake that was'nt the intent of my post. The intent was to point out that an F1 sized Busse is going to be way overkill for the type of work a knife that size should be asked to do. It's more about using the proper sized knife for the job, then what model. The SAR5 is much more in keeping with the size of an F1, and can be found about half as cheap on the Exchange at any given time, most with sheaths. That's why I posted what I did, tactless as I may have done it, it was done tongue in cheek...kind'a like your post above! I own all of the knives mentioned and have a feel for them in hand. The SAR5 is even close enough in size that it could be customized into a similiar shape to the F1, as someone here in the Busse forum did as recent as a week or 2 ago, look for that thread.

At the end of the day we're all friends here, I meant nothing by my post other than showing a little spunk. If I get your last post are you saying busse shouldn't make anything but choppers and prybars?

I agree Blake, I can take as well as give, so keep giving it's how we learn...

No, I would love to see more small Busses along the lines of those in demand from BRKT. Folks who want an F1 sized knife generally prefer smaller users that are also legal to carry in most states. Yes, there are the Ads, BADs, Culti's, GW's, and the recent Hack's, and larger Hack's. It's the choils on these models that are off putting to the folks who use these size knives. Folks who use small bladed knives want the blade right up to the hilt when possible, so they have as much cutting length as possible at their disposal. I own 15 small knives under 5" blade length, and 4 knives over 5" in length. I'm able to legally carry and enjoy the smaller knives more because I handle them more frequently than my larger knives. Of course this is personal preference, and everyone's needs or wants are different.

As someone with 15 knives under 5 inches, you should know, it's not what you need,it's what you want.

I would say leaner meaner. This blade is a tad longer but would not be too big in comparison. i think the AD might give a little too much away in blade length
