I know some folks with knife budgets below the INFI range, and I'd like to suggest some user/outdoor all-purpose knives to them from the Busse-kins in the 8-9" blade range. What's out there, most common, and best/favorites in that size range?

pics if you have them... (not as a solicitation, mind you, just visual aids)

thanks.

Regulator/Deregulator, dude!!!
Best bang for your buck, available from the Scrap Yard store and comes with a sheath if you choose.
It's about a 7 blade. Good size and it's thickness makes it an alright chopper.
Pluss SR 101 has incredible edge holding ability.

This will help you for ideas.
Specs and Weights of Swamp Rat Knives
You will have to practice your search fu for pictures.

Chopweiler is about 7 change inches long! Great knife, but you should look at the battle rat, rat daddy, SOD, M9

I believe DowntownDM is asking Non-Busse knives.

My all-time best pick would have to be Chopweilers. Not because I have three of them, but they are, I believe, true all purpose knife, if you emphasize on 'using it.'
Battle Rat is also very, very good, as well as Camp Tramp and SOD (CG or LE). All SR-101 goodness (well, except for SOD, I mean) and easy to maintain, and I personally think they are more 'beginner' friendly than some hard-core Busses, which some of my friends did mention, was a bit intimidating at first.
But I suppose, those aren't as good in terms of collection value. But then, they are way cheaper than Busse to begin with, so....
