so far, i have a small family...only two members...

a fatty game warden and a FBMLE...

what should i get next???

the game wardern is my first busse and i don't want to mess her up too bad...not just yet....

the FBMLE is already scratched from sheathing, but being a LE, i figure she will hold her value fairly well, regardless of a few beauty marks...

what i am looking for is a designated "user"...all my knives are users, but i want a "go-to" knife....

so far, i was considering a CGASH and a FFBM....

right now, i am leanig towards a FFBM, but what can i expect to pay for one??? i realize that i need to get one off the secondary market and i have seen prices ranging from $440-$550....is that right???

i may have to just "settle" for a CGASH due to availibility....

i just need a knife that is small enough to do small knife tasks, yet large enough to be a stand alone survival knife...

thoughts??? thanks fellas...

Hey Bro, once you get her home, you will quickly see that you haven't "settled" for anything  The CGASH1 is a definate home run, it's available, and it will do what you want it to do. A perfect companion to your LE  JMHO :D

The ASH1 is awesome and I hear the LEs are even better. Or wait for the next offering or whatever surprises Skunk will have at the CO. Store. ;)

Your FBMLE will do everything an FFBM can do.
The ASH1 seems to fit the bill perfectly for what you are seeking. And c4man is right, get one in your hands and you will know instantly that you have not settled for anything, but have purchased one of the finest knives you will own. And if you are tempted to spring for the LE instead of the CG, I highly encourage you to do so. Either way, you will NOT be sorry.

the LE does sound tempting and i do prefer satin over coated blades....

however, i love thick blades....

i think i might get a double cut, black G-10 handled CGASH....

how does the double cut finish compare to satin???

i plan on further polishing the double cut finish with mother's mag polish...it will be a bit difficult to polish the tang...

Thanks for the props Lazlo, this is certainly a great knife

as much as i like my HOGASH, if i had to pick a go to it would be a HOGFSH, HHFSH, or NO-e. as far as just all around go to i'd say the NO, but i'd never give up my HOGFSH for the NO. you may have to do some hunting around, but if you want a grail busse i'd have to say try to track down one of these.

I'dl go with a ASH-1 LE for sure....unless you want a chopper...but you've already got a FBMLE and the ASH-1 CG seems almost if not as heavy as my SHBM :p so if you're looking for a lighter meduim/general camp use blade I'd probably go with the LE...plus it would match your FBMLE nicely :D.

Good choice. I've got one!

I just couldn't get excited by the ASH; I'm not sure why it didn't appeal to me except that I thought it would be bigger. I did however, REALLY like the Hell Razor, and I saw pictures of them in what Skunk's selling this weekend. I'll be hard pressed not to pick up another HR at "Knob Creek" if the bring em.

I'm also a big fan of the Leaner Meaner/ Bandicoot / SS4 style blades. If you can't make it to one of the sales this weekend, I'd wait to see what's available in the 'ganza that'll follow before placing my next order.

just an update here:

i saw that everyone was recommending the ASH and i had to go against the grain and get a FFBM.....

luckily i found a member selling two sage FFBM's in the exchange forum, and i had to pick one up....

i love big blades....thanks jaxx!!! can't wait to get it....

hey jaxx, do you mind if i use your pics????

mine is the one on top....and i'll post my own pics, once it gets to me...

An FFBM is a great knife but If I was you I would go for the ASH-1. It's readily available in a choice of handles and blade colors and you wouldn't be paying any mark up.

You will probably get a FFBM at some point and it's just case of waiting until you see one for a decent price on the secondary market (I got one for $400 not including paypal fees and shipping, just the other week). Patience, i'm learning, has it's rewards.

Enjoy the collecting, next you'll have to post some pics.

get one of the Busse Scotch Dispensers. My favorite knife. It sees the most carry. They are $162 shipped straight from the Busse store.
