BJE said:Both Vic. and Wenger say that they are the original SAK, but which one is telling the truth? Which was original first?
Only Victorinox makes that claim.
Victorinox was the first Swiss Army knife winning their contract in 1891. The company that was to become Wenger was awarded half supply with Victorinox in 1893.
Victorinox is known as "The Original Swiss Army Knife" and Wenger as "Genuine Swiss Army Knives". See the subtle difference?
Anyway, Victorinox now owns Wenger, although Wenger is still operated as a seperate company.
It's interesting, most people don't even know there are 2 official companies, they just think they're "Swiss Army Knives".
BJE is this a trick question?
Vickky=Original=Pioneering Status=The Very First Manufacturer
Wengker=Producer of Genuine Items=OEM SAK=Government Contractor
No trick questions. Just curious, I guess I didn't read the claims closely enough. So, from what I understand Vic. is the orig. and Wenger is what is issued to the swiss army (so it would be considered THE SAK) right?
