Which Civivi and Blade Shape Question

Hi everyone. I got a Civivi Courser last year and I really like it. I'm impressed with the attention to detail. The stuff some reviewers have said about it being a whole lot of quality for the price is spot on. It isn't without issue though. I've got the same problem I had with a fancy version of the Leek years ago. It's just a little too nice for me to want to use it sometimes.

Yeah, this problem is probably more an issue with me. VG-10 is a great everyday steel. It's just so pretty in this case that I don't want to mark it up. More on the design side, the handle gets a little thin and tapers strangely towards my pinky. Not that I usually have to cut huge amounts of stuff but the ergonomics wouldn't be ideal if I did. So this knife kind of wants to be "EDC" for fancier dress.

So I've found myself looking at their less expensive knives in 9Cr18Mov. I really like the shape of the Baklash but I think the blue liners look a little goofy. I'm leaning towards the Naja but green is my favorite color and this is the only one that doesn't come in green. (I'd get black if I went this route.) It would also be the fattest folder I've ever carried and I don't have the option to try before I buy. The Praxis might work but I'm a little worried about the ramp at the back of the blade. I tend to get my thumb up on the back of a blade during use. It looks like the point at the top of that ramp might end up pushing right into the pad of my thumb.

Does anyone here have experience with the Naja or Praxis? Does it sound like these issues might be a problem? Have you encountered them on other knives? Thanks in advance for the thoughts and opinions.

I’ve got a Praxis, and it’s a hell of a knife for $42. The only time you’d notice the little drop off for the jimping to the rest of the spine is if you actually put the joint of your thumb right on it. If I put the pad of my thumb right on it, I can’t notice it. It helps that the blade stock is 0.11”, which is really thin for a 3.75” blade (a Para3 is 0.15”).

I've got a Naja and Baklash, both are extremely well made knives for that price point, both open like polished glass.

The Naja is kinda big but not that thick though the handles, carries fine. I kind want the Praxis, because it's essentially a large baklash, and I find the baklash itself a little small.

Gotta say, Civivi has really raised the bar for "budget" knives for quality IMO.

The Praxis is a fine knife, with my only gripe being that the thin blade stock makes the flipper a little too unpleasantly pointy for my tender tactical fingers.

I just looked at mine, and I don’t think the tip of the thumb ramp should be a problem. It’s not pointy on mine, anyway.
