After buying several knives in 100-150 dollar range over the past few months, I am trying to tone it down,I thought maybe I would buy something a little cheaper with my next purchase. I am thinking about adding a Cold Steel to take my collection in a different direction as I primarily have BM and Spydies.

Should I go with the Recon 1, American Lawman, or AK47 or perhaps another?

Thanks in advanced for your input.

If it's just for collection the Rajah's and the Spartan are my faves.
Of the 3 you mentioned the AK47 is is my fave. The new one has a nasty pommel to Crack a person's skull or collarbone

Recon 1 is relatively long the mini recons , American lawman and the AK are more "civilian friendly" length. It depends on what you like. All are excellent knives.

I have had and carried the gambit of Cold Steel folders and have found that the ones I am most fond of, are the Recon 1's and Voyagers. The Voyagers fit my hand the best with the more "rounded" handle while the Recon 1 makes for an easier carry in the pocket with how thin they are. I was actually not very impressed with the AK47(2010 model), but that may be just because I could not figure out how to wave it as easily as the older generation models.

Another vote here for the Rajah II. Picked one up the other day at a little resale shop, NIB for $50. Had to reprofile it a bit as the bevels were pretty lopsided by as of now it's good to go. I call it my "Life Knife". It may never save a life but it could sure take one.

I have ,and like, the Rajah II, the Spartan and the Ak-47 mentioned above. Another cool folder I am waiting for my local knife store to get in, is the Hold-out 1 with the 6" blade. I think it'll be priced somewhere in the mid to high 90 dollar range.

I have a Lawman and a Tanto recon1 and I carry the Lawman everyday at work .I can`t think of a stronger knife if that is something you are looking for ,I also find it to be quite comfortable. The recon 1 is huge so I only carry it when I know there will be no none knife people around when I use it.

Same with my Spartan. As per Cold Steel "Like the Kukri, the Spartan™ always presents its edge at an angle to the material being cut to produce a deep sheering effect."

Prob is sharpening that bevel setup is a bitch so re profiled to 30deg a side with a 35deg Microbevel

I've owned the recon 1 , ak 47, voyager, large, my favoreit was the recon 1 with the ak47 a close second,

I have a Lawman on the way. I handled the Recon 1 in a store - way too big for me.

Hi every one dont get around to visit but the questons about cold steel has prompted me to ask aquestion.I hace arealy realy big birthday coming up this month,my dear wife has agreed to buy me aknife of my choice up to500 bucks. This should indicate how big this bd is!!! I have been thinking about Chris Reeve Sebenza.Any feed back pro or con would be greatly appreciated, along with any other suggestions. Thanks guys Chuck

ChuckV might want to start a new thread you will get a lot more answers, than if you just ask the question in someone elses thread

Lawman is a pretty sweet folder. Fits the hand like a glove and has a very modest "footprint" in the pocket.

I dont really like those Persian style knifes that much. I think I have it narrowed down to the the Mini-Recon1 or the Mini AK 47,...about to do a buy it now on ebay in pick of one of these bad boys in the next 15 or 20 minutes, I have an ich and need to scratch
