Which combination stone should I get?

After many years of use I finally ruined the first stone I ever had. This was the stone I learned to sharpen a knife on. After sharpening some knives an cleaning up I dropped the stone on the concrete floor an it broke into 3 chunks. So I used this stone for my carbon steel blades mainly. Some stainless AUS8 and some cheap kitchen knives. What stone should I get? I was thinking Norton Crystolon.

Norton IC6 should do you well. 6" Medium Crystolon, Fine India combo.

I think they have it in an 11" version as well.

I would get the JB8. A Norton sic coarse/ fine stone. Set the bevel on the coarse and finish on the fine. And a strop and this will take you
a long way. DM

I would defer to David in this arena...he's got much more experience using Norton stones over the years.

^^THIS^^

Think you have your answer ... was what I was going to recommend but someone beat me to it.

I am partial to the Norton im313 myself. You can get whatever stones you want on it even ark stones. A crystolon, India and ark would be an awesome combo and the size handles any knife.

Edit: my bad combo means double sided. Sorry.

Rebel, I really like a Norton IM313 I have a couple and enjoy using them. They are not cheap. DM

No David, they're not cheap at all. I use them at work and have been fortunate enough to have been given a few from several companies I have worked for. The first one I was given because a new replacement was ordered for the stones were all dipped out. Took it home, fresh flat stones on the other sides of each lol.

That jb8 you suggested is a killer combo at an awesome price.
