Which CRK Folder?

I currently do not have a CRK folder and I have decided I need to pick one up. Which brings me to my question, would you get a Umnumzaan, Large Micarta Sebenza, or a Wood Inlaid Large Sebenza? This knife will be carried and used, not a safe queen. So which would you get and why? Let's hear those opinions.
 
Im personally a fan of the LG sebenza, non-inlay. Clean, classic and simple. If you want texture look at the Wilson Star-benza.
Honestly though, can you really choose wrong?
 
that is a HARD choice to choose between!

i have the regular sebenza 21 and it is really nice. i was SO CLOSE to ordering an umnumzaan to check it out, but it didnt go through. so my opinion is limited, but i would say the sebenza is definitely worth checking out.

i would recommend getting the large over the small tho; and wood or micarta, i would choose what you like best.

You won't get a better testimony than that! You've sold me James. Does "Double-lug Micarta Insingo" sound about right? Gonna start saving up.

Any of their folders. If you plan to use it a bit, micarta or plain. Large if you don't mind the size or small to keep a lower profile. Just use it daily and you'll appreciate them more.

It's definitely worth it. I really like mine:

In regards to the OP, if you're just curious about trying a CRK, I don't think you can beat a plain Large. You can probably pick one up for a reasonable price off the forum if you're hesitant about plunking down that much money initially.
 
Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to try and find a good deal on a Large Micarta.
 
The 2011 Sebenza Limited Annual Edition are shipping now. The Regular Sebenza blade geometry is definitely a keeper.
 
I'll join the chorus on a large Micarta being a good place to start. Most dealers sell them for the same price, but service and "extras" (like a free pouch/case) may distinguish one dealer from another. The real issue may be finding one in stock - Sebenzas have been in pretty short supply for a while, though I think at least one of my favorite CRK dealers has some right now.
 
Personally, I like my large 21. No inlays, nothing fancy. Just wonderfully under-stated quality and perfection. :)
 
I have to give my vote for the Micarta Insingo as well. I absolutely love my plain-handled Insingo but the Micarta Insingo is on another level, IMO. Not only does the Micarta add a dashingly handsome look to the knife, it makes it fill the hand out better and just feels like sitting a leather couch compared to hard smooth feeling of the plain handle.

I case your next concern is the strength of the bond between the Micarts and the Ti, CRK uses 3M VHB tape which is one of the strongest adhesives known to man. There are some interesting threads here about VHB tape.
 
I am new to Sebenza's but I like the look of the Regular large Seb so I ordered one and got it Monday. Boy these knives or off the charts nice. I know it been said before but it is true, it like budda! Im guess the 21 and the Classic, being later models, have tweaks and stuff incorparated into them, but you can't go wrong with the deco look of the Regular.
 
Just thought I'd post a quick update. I ended up with a Large Micarta and a Large Carbon Fiber Sebenza. I must say they are smooth and as close to perfect as can be. There is a reason I keep coming back to CRK.

My kid has been on Ramen noodles and powered milk since I ordered mine a few months back. I am anxious for this to replace by large plain insingo as EDC.

I’m saving some Christmas money and had the SAME decision problem!:eek: After this thread, I guess my mind is made up. I trust these testimonies, all you guys are legit. Let’s keep this thread going as we get them in.
