Which CS Hawk is the best thrower?

Hi guys!

I tried yesterday and today some knife throwing, with my Glock Feldmesser 78. Was quiet fun :)

But I wanted to try it out with some hawks. So, which one is the best thrower? I already watched some vids on youtube. It seems to me, the Frontier Hawk makes a fine thrower.

But what are your experiences? I should be a hawk by CS, others are not available in Germany. And they are cheap, for the beginning ;)

Til now I own the Trail Hawk and the Spike Hawk.

What about Frontier Hawk, Norse Hawk or Pipe Hawk?

Thank you for your help!

Greets from Bavaria!

All of them are fine throwers, but I will say that the riflemans hawk can be a bit more difficult with it's heavier head
I hear good things from the Trail hawk and frontier hawk about throwing, and I'm sure that the spike hawk and pipe hawk will throw fine too, since they're based off of the frontier pattern

IMO the frontier is the best followed closely by the trailhawk. The frontier makes a great all round hawk, better for chopping than the trailhawk IMO. The spikehawk is also fun because you can throw it both ways but it's a bit heavyish. I personally hate the rifleman but big guys seem to like it.

IMHO the Trail Hawk is the best. I have owned it for a year and have become a huge fan of this hawk over my other CS hawks.

The norse hawk has good geometry for throwing in my opinion, it makes it more forgiving.

Im with Robin on this, Frontier throws great
I have Fronteir and Pipehawk, i love the bladeshape
Frontier throws a bit better than Pipehawk, but Pipehawk hits harder

i can say, after having a trench hawk and my SOG tactical hawk that the SOG is dramatically better for throwing...

It is not only better balanced, but seems to have a much more... snappy... throwing profile

there is something about the handle on the SOG that just makes it better for a smooth wrist snap and release

I have:

OLD rifleman's hawk bought in spring of 1994
two norse hawks
trail hawk
spike hawk

I've had the best results with the norse hawks.

Hi guys!

Thanks for the replies :)

I´m thinking about the Norse Hawk and (or) the Frontier Hawk... The NH seems to be a little bit heavier than the FH. Makes that any difference in throwing, I mean by changing on each throw between the Spike or the Trail Hawk?

I´d like to have something lightweight for the first tries. The Riflemans Hawk is a nice hawk, but too heavy for throwing. I got one as a present for my dad to fathersday.

Any tactical hawk is nothing for me. On a traditional hawk the haft can be removed very quickly and a new one is built in a couple of minutes.
Imo during learning throwing the one or other handle will surely break. I can make useful a one (but not perfect or even beautiful one) in a very short time. Just a breach of dry hardwood and a sharp knife and a new handle is made... The other thing is personally, I like the look of a good natural handle ;)

Kind regards

Hi guys!

I just ordered the CS Frontier Hawk for me... and another Spike Hawk for my very best friend... he loves the design of my modded one ;)

I´m looking forward getting my FH. I´ll gonna remove the handle immediately and put a self-made handle of any wood on it for throwing... I´ll see how it works :)

Kind regards
