I got my first ESEE a 3 a couple of days ago. I love it it's flawlessly made, and I was forced to order a Izula that day. My question is, I picked desert tan for the 3, and I went to the desert here, Southern California out east, and the knife color didn't match. What's up with that?

Well, we didn't exactly pull sand samples from the desert to do the color. :D

The color was derived from the near impossibly reached hamada of the sahara dessert, cause we wanted, no we demanded the color of the toughest most bad ass dessert on the planet to adore our blades....

come on what are they supposed to say, it has to be a joke. (there i go forgetting the smileys again) :)

I want one that changes color to match the color of the desert you are in. A chameleon IZULA.

I think(hope) the original post was sort of tongue in cheek...doesn't matter really, cuz the replies were entertainment enough for me!

Lay it in the sand and walk 25 meters away...see if you still see it then :) .

Jeff and Mike actually hiked in the middle east for several weeks until they found the color they wanted to match. They scooped up the sand and took it to home depot for the color match.

Actually, we saw a contractor buulding a brick house and liked the color of the brick sand he was using.
