I have a Camillus BK7 coming to me so and was wondering what people that have both prefer the Camillus or Kabar? Are there any differances besides the tang? Got the Camillus BK7 lightly used for same price as a Kabar Becker. When did Camillus stop making Becker's? Very happy to get one of these and dying to get it. :)

Becker Thornagraphy Pics.

I've had a few Camillus Beckers and prefer the Kabar. I believe that the heat treatment on Kabar knives is better than Camillus. Also, Kabar no longer stamps their blades so less lateral stress and fewer failures from micro-fracturing.

The only Camillus Becker that I might prefer is the 9. It's just a little bit thicker so a little more heft when chopping.

Prefer the Kabars for the same reasons.
Also: current warranty.

Camillus made an EXCELLENT sheath for the BK-11, but aside from that, I prefer the Kabars.

Were the Camillus BK7's thicker than the 7's now with Kabar too or just the 9? Does anyone know when Camillus stopped making them?

Personally I prefer the Kabar versions of everything. Current warranty doesn't hurt, but ultimately I think they way they have produced the bosses knives is a lot higher quality than the older generations.

Ulf, did you happen to get this off the bay from someone who's name rhymes with "wee man"038 by chance? :) if so, i will ship it tomorrow or Tuesday the latest.

LOL. Yeeahhh buddy.:) That would be him. I think he's from FL.:p Paid this mornin. thanks. Gotta ask why you getting rid of it? Looks close to new. Wish had the box.:) How long have you been the owner?

I prefer the KA-BAR line of Becker knives. More durable coating, laser engraving, glass breaker pommel on all current production models, and they're easily available, so it's not like you're risking breaking a collectible.

I've had it a few months. It is in great condition. I have to admit though, everytime i need/want to use a knife i always grab my BK9. I figured someone else would enjoy it and use it more. Plus, i just recently purchased a Reinhardt Combat Kukri so i need to clear up some room and money from the collection for it. I am glad this 7 is going to another Beckerhead though. Use it well. :)

Yeah it looks in great condition there's another on there that's beat to death. I'm gonna baby this one a bit i believe.(Maybe):). My 9 too is going to be my victim of abuse for the most part cause can defineatly handle it. God i love it. Thanks for the deal fellow Becker Bretheren.

The 7's were the same thickness. Only the 9's changed. I believe it was done because Kabar did not have any steel in the .21 thickness and it didn't make financial sense to order a separate stock for one knife.
Camillus went bankrupt in 2007 & stopped all production.
