E2 E2 E2 E2 E2 !!!!!!

THEY ARE A GREAT LITTLE LIGHTEM UP... I like it better than the E1 and it has a pretty good clip to boot.

E2 without a doubt! It is less then twice the size and over 3 times the brightness as the E1 with the same run time. There is really nothing in the same class as the E2 right now, larger (same brightness) and you get in to the Scorpion, UKE, TACM III, and other 2L Surefires. It is amazing how small it is and how bright it is.

I agree with all that has been said. The E2 is much better because it is so much brighter, yet not that much bigger at all. In some respects, the E2 is actually easier and more comfortable to handle because it is a little bit bigger. For me it is just about the right fit in my hand, where the E1 is a bit small.

I think that the big advantage of the E2 is that it can be taken anywhere due to its size, yet it is bright enough for any use. There is really no situation that I can think of that the E2 would not be bright enough for. Not that the high power lamp would not be appreciated, but that extra power would always come at the expense of runtime.

I have had my E1 since it came out and I still carry it everyday over the E2 just because I hardly ever use a flashlight on a dialy basis to begin with. There are situations though where the E1 is just a tad too dim. I can always more than make-do with the E1 while camping etc. or even for defense, but the E2 has never left me wishing for more output, while occasionally the E1 has.

Hope this helps,

Bucky

Clay, yes I bet the sales of E1's will really drop off. If they priced them about $30 they would sell a lot more, for an extra $15 or so you can get a light with over 3 times the power. The huge increase in brightness far outweighs the small increase in size and weight.

Well, I'm shocked myself, but I'll offer a contrary view. I have really looked forward to the E2, considering it as close to my perfect everyday light as I could think of. And don't get me wrong, I love it. I carry it whenever I have a jacket pocket to slip into, or on weekends in my jeans pocket.

But at work, which I'm at 40++ hours a week, the E2 is a bit awkward looking in jeans pockets and uncomfortable in Dockers. I like to carry a light at work in my pants pockets, having been caught in rolling blackouts before. Anyway, all told, the hours I carry my E1 is definitely more than the hours I carry the E2. In fact, having realized that, my highest-priority wish for SureFire is the 30 lumen E1 light.

The E2 is awesome, but the E1 can be carried in a watch pocket or comfortably in Dockers, so it's got an edge for me.

I love my Scorpion and I love my E1, but the E2 seems like the perfect compromise.

Now to find room in the budget for one -- and convince SWMBO ("But honey, I am just trying to brighten up your life teh way you brightened up mine...")

Count another vote for Joe's opinion. I couldn't have expressed it better. I just got both the E1 and the E2, but the E1 is the one that I will be carrying "forever".

When it's REALLY dark, a little light is worth a lot. I own both, but if had to choose between the two, would pick the E1 because it's always there.

Hi Ralph! Did you get yours over the 'net or is there a good place in Kingsport to get Sure-Fires?

I have large hands and I think the E2 would be more comfortable for me to use. The extra light output is just a bonus!

I just got back from buying an E1. I thought about it for a couple of weeks and finally chose the E1 because of the size. The E1 is bright enough for emergency use. I've got a Maglight 3D at home and a Stinger in my vehicle so I figured I could get by with the E1 until I could get to one of those two.

Clay . . . both my E1 and a pair of E2's came from Tim Flanagan. Good prices and legendary service . . . . and he's right here on bfc!

Is Tim Flanagan his user name? Or is there another?

Thanks in advance,

I just got my E1 a couple days ago. I am quite happy with it. I like the size and longer run time over the E2. And since the batteries cost so much, it is nice to only have to replace one at a time..I am amazed at how bright it is. A big difference from my CMG Infinity.

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

Funny,as before I carried the E2 I thought the Photon was great, but now I am spoiled. The Photon is still great but once you are used to all that extra light, it is hard to go back!
