which dodo blade?

Hello everyone. I'm thinking of getting a dodo. I want a really sturdy, small blade knife. I would like your input as to which blade, (se or pe) and why. Most of my Spydies are plain edge with the exception of a stainless harpy and a frn dragonfly. I'm partial to the plain edge but think I might like a small se knife with great materials that would rip through about anything. What do you think? Thanks.

I have both, but don't really use them - they are my travelling SD knives when I'm going to some place where I'm not sure about the knife laws, and I just assume that the short blade is short enough to keep me out of trouble. Both blades look pretty tricky to sharpen to me, so if I was actually going to USE a Dodo, I would stick to the PE. But I am speaking out of ignorance; I've never really tried to sharpen a serrated edge - I just assume the SE is more difficult. But is it? Anyone?

I am a PE fan myself. PE edges cut "smoother" for me in most materials. The PE Dodo rips through most materials so well that SE doesn't seem neccessary - but I am biased.

Hey Rick,

I was interested in this very same question when I was deciding which Dodo to go with. I actually asked pretty much the same question and you can see how everyone responded here.

The general opinion seemed to be that due to the Dodo's blade shape and SE edge wasn't really needed since it cuts through everything fine. But I happen to like the spyder edge on some knives and the thing that made me get the PE was that I carry a SE Harpy above my back right pocket in the waistband.

So, I guess it is really up to personal taste, if you like the PE go for it. I don't think you can really be unhappy with the Dodo regardless of which edge you choose. It is a fine knife. Good luck.
