Looking to buy a high quality fixed bladed knife for EDC,unfortunately I live in Massachusetts (land of the sheeple). The Bob Dozier knives are one of my top choices, but don't know what one to choose. Help me please!

Either the K-9 (Personal Utility) or the K-6 (Companion) would make good choices, IMO. The blades are 3" or less.

Well, I am considering getting a Straight Personal so I guess that would be the one that I would choose. The blade is 2 7/8" so it should be as acceptable as any fixed blade to the sheeple you will run into.

I like the Dozier Canoe, small blade and very tame looking.

If you are open to other makers how about one of Kurt Meerdink's small blades? I have a Cahill Gold which comes in at a 2" blade length and just over 4" OAL. Bladeart has a Mini Fighter from him with a 2.25" blade which looks nice as well. for ~$100 you can't go wrong.

I made a nice leather pocket clip case for my Cahill so I can carry it like a folder and have been pretty pleased.

I carry my Doziers up to and including the Arkansas toothpick in the pocket of my jeans. Its easy to get them to release from the sheath. The IWB sheaths you just spread the lip and push off with your thumb, and the horizontal cross draw sheaths the same but push off on the belt loop. They dont print as knives at all being carried in jeans pockets. Putting them back in quickly is tricky. Pocket carry only works when there is not a lot of in and out, and when you get the above two mentioned sheaths. Carry in general on your belt would depend upon your job and where you travel. I cant imagine, going into a shopping mall with one on. But hey thats me. I like all my toys to stay hidden, until needed. When in the woods or field or around farm, home or ranch, thats different. Then we are on my turf and play by my rules.

I like the Dozier folding hunter-have been carrying it daily in my pocket. The blade shape doesn't raise too many eyebrows, and it does everything I need an EDC to do, particularly in an office environment. Works pretty good outdoors too (big surprise). I think it is a great knife.

My vote would be for the straight personal or personal utility as well. If you really want to please the sheeple, avoid black for the handle color. Something about black just makes folks think "killing device". Puke:barf: yellow micarta seems to be OK with sheeple.

I liked the Dozier Agent that i once had. I now have a folding Buckhunter that is a great edc, when I can get the Sebenza out of my pocket that is:eek: Any knife from Bob in the magical D2 he uses will make a great blade. TAD has a great looking folder from Bob that has a 3.25" modified clip point blade, finger grooved handle and the "strong as an ox" tab lock system.

You just can't go wrong with a Dozier!:D

As long as this thread seems to be including folders, I strongly recommend the Dozier folding hunter. The small 3" blade covers a wide variety of functions and can be carried in just about any fashion. It also cuts like crazy and does it forever.

Straight Personal or Personal Utility, you won't go wrong
with one of Bob's knives:)

What's wrong with you people--no body likes the Slim Outdoorsman:rolleyes:. I have a Personal model, but my hands are on the big side, so it's too small. Actually, the Slim Outdoorsman is a tad small, but for concealabilty, its great and no one does D2 like Bob.
Good luck picking one!

Handle color does have a lot to do with the perceived intent of a knife as well as blade shape. I am going with a straight hunter in a a non-black micarta for my sheeple-friendly knife.

Mr. D also does handles beyond micarta!
AGRussell has the Slim Outdoorsman with jigged bone handles, just like mine ;) It is very 'friendly' looking.
My EDC is a K-9 with black micarta and it hasn't scared anyone yet either....
