I have narrowed it down to the NY. Special or the Toothpick. Anybody here have a prefference or suggestion? His knives look like they are excellent quality,

thanks,

shane

Hey Shane! I have had some Doziers, but not the two you've mentioned. However, I am familiar with both models, and personally would lean toward the toothpick. I've just always liked the looks of that one. (I'd have to go with the red inlay on it, of course). How's that for a scientific review?

Shane, they are both nice looking knives, you can't make a bad choice. I'll caste my vote for the New York Special, would you care to guess why?

I had a Toothpick.....just traded it off.
NOT because I didn't like it but because my local knife laws made it, virtually, useless to me.
It is an exceptional knife.....I recommend it highly. Strong, attractive and usefull.
One of the nicest handles in the business AND a nicely ground D2 blade.
Carry system is good, too.
You would not regret getting it.
Waddaya reckon, Jerry....got it yet ?

If I am a figment of your imagination, stop it..PLEASE

The NY Special is a tad on the small side but a very effective thrusting tool. The Toothpick was Bobs "improvement" of the NY. Both are for similar primary purposes. A better "multi purpose" user is the "Agent" and the "Bodyguard". Both utility knives in disguise, or vice versa. The "Agent" is my favorite. BTW, the NY Special was offered thru the firm of AG Russell only and I believe they no longer catalog it. Worth an inquiry though. Whichever Dozier, you can' t go wrong. Just know the "mission".

A.G. Russel still has the Special listed on his site.

Shane, I was faced with the same choice and, after handling both knives, went w/the AR Toothpick. Sorry, Phil, please don't tell Mayor Rudy about my disloyalty.

As Brian E already said, it's handle ergonomics are fantastic.

Here's a pic of mine with the small fob I like to use on knives of this size & smaller. I find that they can help during quick deployment and can also aid in retention.

I looked at the shoulder harness Bob makes for these knives but found that the knife didn't hug my body as I would prefer. His cross draw is nice and what I'm currently using. However, I'll probably make my own IWB rig, w/optional pocket paddle, after I get some more experience working w/Kydex.

As others said, you can't go wrong w/either one. Have fun w/your decision.
