I'm about to purchase an emerson this week and I haven't decided which model to get. I'm leaning towards the cqc 11. Which cqc has the best blade shape for SD purposes? Thanks again.

That depends entirely on your self-defense needs and techniques. Ernie Emerson could probably do more with La Griffe than most people could with a Commander.

Agreed. I won't get specific, but some things work better for some people. Depends on your first reaction in many situations and the distances presented or warning time, number of attackers, among many factors. Also comes down to your willingness to injure when necessary. Some blade shapes work better for some grips, others for others. Some do more than one very very well.

Ask yourself HOW SPECIFICALLY (picture yourself doing it. If you can't picture it, you will never be over to accept doing it) you will defend yourself and figure out exactly which blade whould be best suited to it.

In my opinion, the CQC-8, and the CQC-11 are the best SD folding knives Emerson has made. The CQC-8 and CQC-11, in my opinion, are also the best utility folders. I would say, of the two, the best SD Emerson folder is the CQC-8. However, the CQC-11 is a very close second.

The CQC 7 at one time was THE knife that all other tactical folders were compared to. Saying that, I'm just an average guy and I've carried one now going on 8yrs and don't think I would stop. Just my opinion.
