which emerson has best lock ?

I am a newbie at knife forum. I am wondering which of the ermerson model has best lock? which model has strong blade to be used as an improvised can opener? Does anyone have suggestion? I prefer current model.

I have not had a lock problem on ANY Emerson.
That said, the new Emerson HD-7 is a framelock knife. By nature of its design it will be the strongest lock.
The second question.......any one of them can open a can.
I have an Emerson in my pocket every day.

Well sir...the CQC-12 which should arrive soon is a frame lock, as well as the HD-7 as stated before. the 1998 Commanders have thicker liners too.

My mini cqc has opened a can on more than one occasion...

i would say the best lock on an emerson is on the emerson specwar custom knives, my CQC8 locks up as well as anything, the framelocks are really better locks though

I agree. The CQC-8, 10, 11, and 13 are especially strong knives with tips that will easily pierce a can.

Not counting frame locks (HD7 and CQC12) the Azeck Marud has a very beefy liner lock
