I have a few emersons and they have pretty thick handles compared to my spydercos...I was looking into picking up a mini 8 or j.jim..does anyone know if the handles on those are as thick as the cqc 7 or are they thiner any pics would be greatly appreciated thanks

They are all pretty much the same as far as I can tell, I own around 10 Emerson knives. They use full liners and not skeletonized like other companies, but the few milimeters really doesn't make for much of a difference.
What kind of pictures are you interested in? I might be able to help if you can clarify.

thanks, well an over head shot of the mini cqc 8 compared to the cqc 7 would help but from what you said it doesn't sound as if they make a thin knife like a pm2

Give me a few and I'll see if I have enough daylight to take a few quick pictures.

Para2, CQC7, Gentleman Jim, Horseman:

In the second picture, it would appear that the Gentleman Jim is thicker than the rest. The Horseman would be almost as thin as the Para2, followed by the CQC7

All their knives are use standard G10, liners, blade stock, etc. There are some variation on thickness from time to time, but essentially, no knife is officially thicker.

hey thanks a lot for the pics they were exactly what I wanted to see.nice collection btw

No problem, happy to help out. There really is a little bit of variance in the handles, the smaller CQC7 is the thinnest, then the Horseman, then the Para2, and finally the Gentleman Jim. All great knives and I'm sure you'd be happy with any of them.

That's a mini cqc-7?

Yep, it's from 2004 though. The newer production models might be a bit thicker.

I see. Does it feel too small? Just ordered mine from knifeworks. I like that it's small enough to be legal near everywhere but it almost seems too small (used to 3.5" and up on folders)

I own an HD7, CQC-7v, and CQC-10... the HD7 is the thinnest out of those three and noticeably so.

I believe he is asking not which is thicker vs thinner, but narrower. Like Gent Jim vs Journeyman.

To the OP: I think that the Gent Jim has the narrowest handle.

I carry large knives along with a smaller slipjoint, it's a good size.

I've owned many Emersons, but the one that was thinnest was my HD12. One handle was solid G10 and the other titanium, thus there was no reason for liners since the screws went directly into the titanium side. Great knife! Love thin knives

The Horseman (mini CQC-8) feels very much like a Para2 in the hand, as far as length of the handle and thickness. The mini '8 is much narrower when folded, and has an impressive handguard (for such a small knife) to keep your hand from sliding up the blade.

The Horseman is closer in size to the standard CQC-7, the mini '7 is tiny in comparison.

I had a mini CQC-7 and it felt way too small in my hand. I currently have, and use a mini A-100 and it feels fine. I think that I didn't like the '7 because of the handle contour, it just didn't fit my hand and forced the knife into a funny grip. The A100 does not do that because the handle is a simple rectangle.
