I’m not really so sure if Elliot is a douchebag or just not great in social media settings. Our current social media world tends to give a voice to people who probably shouldn’t have one. It also reveals others who just don’t know how to act in that exposed microcosm of Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. I suspect Elliot is in that later group.

They certainly make some great knives, however. If I had to choose, I’d go with the copper.

I've never dealt with him. I guess it's time for me to do a little reading up on the subject.

Someone asked him about staining on a massdrop FF knife blade and and he was a douche about it, big-timed the guy and was generally an obnoxious tool bag. After it spread around the web he put out the mandatory insincere apology PR statement, but after talking with someone who dealt with him directly I'm pretty sure the douche-ey original response was the real Elliott and the apology was exactly as sincere as it sounded.

There are literally 100 knives I would buy before I would buy a Ferrum Forge knife based on nothing other than design, attributes, economics (& several are more expensive) & reputation of several outstanding companies.

Too much choil, just not a fan of him or his designs, the exception being the Massdrop Gent.

There are better options in that price range. Not a fan of copper, the blue is better.

Between those two I am leaning toward the blue because of the bolster look. The pattern looks nice. If there is one that jumps out at you I would go with that one. I have a fortis 2.0 and really enjoy it.

I have a Fortis as well and really
appreciate the knife. I would buy another Ferum Forge.

I have 5 FF blades and I love them. These are co-labs made by whomever Drop is using now. If you're looking for a solid example of FF's quality work try a Mordax or a Khan.

FWIW, I've hung out with both Elliot and Chris in person at their shop here in San Diego, and they're both great people. IDK the Social Media story, but I do know it's really easy to get people spinning out of control without much too effort these days. YMMV.
