For the fun of it, I was wondering what you guys would recommend as a good all around Woods knife in the 4 to 6 inch range? Must be a Fiddleback.

You see, I have a KPH which handles most of my Kitchen and game processing needs, a Camp knife which does Chef knife/Clever duty in the Kitchen, Chops and splits wood and can handle some general cutting but it's a little big for other things. So I normally use a Western Hunter, H.I. Karda, SOG or one of my many other knives for general use when in the woods. But I think it would be fun to talk about which Fiddleback handles the General use aspect.

So what do you like to use or recommend in the 4 to 6 inch range? Also what are your camp combos?

Well, I have several of Andy's models. None of which are a "Hunter". However, from what I've seen, it seems to have all the qualities you are speaking of. I don't own a Kephart either, but that seems to fit the bill as well.
Man, I guess you made me realize that I've got some shopping to do ;-)

Or, we can just settle this right now and come to the conclusion that the Bushfinger is the ultimate Fiddleback.
At least I own a couple of those. No bias here :-)

In that size range I would almost suggest the Hunter, I do have one and love it, since you are already carrying something of similar size. But paired with a camp knife I would think something of that size unnecessary. I think any of Andy's mid-sized knives and smaller: Bushfinger, Ladyfinger, Recluse, Hiking Buddy etc., would serve your purposes very well.

I don't own a Bushfinger, yet, but for all-around use I don't see how you can beat the Recluse.

The blade shape and overall size make it so useful for so many tasks. Bushcrafting, hunting, general camp use, general home/kitchen use; so far it's good for all of them. I've even used it as a steak knife in a pinch.

I've got a bushcrafter and a bush finger and haven't found anything that I can do with either that I can't do with my edc. And the edc is small enough to carry in a pocket sheath. I wouldn't limit my search to a certain blade length. Just bite the bullet and buy one of each :D the karda is pretty handy also

Heber, you're hitting an area of the Nessmuk combo that I've filled out a lot in my line. The Bushcrafter, Bushfinger, Kephart, KE Bushie, Arete, Terassaur, Hunter, Ladyfinger, and Guardless Ladyfinger all do the task nicely. I carried a Bushfinger for this for years now, but have recently made myself a Kephart.

...the karda is pretty handy also

DC makes a great point here. If you are already belt carrying the Camp Knife the whole time then a three-finger Karda around the neck or in a pocket would make a great compliment to give you a finer point and more dexterity without weighting yourself down in the process. If the plan is to leave the Camp Knife in camp upon arrival and belt carry the smaller knife as you are out gathering fire wood and stuff then something a little larger may be the best route to go.

The Hiking Buddy is a good smaller option, and very capable for a smaller knife.
