I got an Amazon gift card for $40.00.

Any suggestions for a fixed blade I can buy for around $40.00?

Any ideas or styles are welcome!!! Looking to tryout a great budget knife!

I want to really test it out, torture and abuse it, then see how easy/well it returns to shape.

Thoughts??

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between a Mora and a Cold Steel Pendleton Lite Hunter. Maybe throw in a full tang Old Hickory kitchen knife as well.
Should be able to buy all three, including shipping, for under $40.

I would forgo the "torture test" and destruction, and maybe check out one of those black Mora bushcraft models, I think they are around $40.00. Cold Steel also has some decent budget fixed blades.
.

Moras are great medium use knives, but even the crappiest full tang Chinese knife will likely outlast it in a torture test.

I've seen torture tests done on the Cold Steel GI tanto, so no sense in doing that again. What about tye Schrade SCHF10? It seems to get a lot of good reviews despite being a Schrade. I know their CRK knock off did better than the actual CRK Green Beret so I'd be interested to see how their others stack up.

Try out a hultafors heavy duty knife. It can give any Mora a run for its money for about the same price.

They make Cryo and Thermite fixed blades now? ;)

A large fixed blade Thermite would be sweet though.

Not fixed but I would like to see what a Coldsteel Pocket Bushman can handle.

Shrade's SCHF9 and 10 are supposed to be damn tough (loving my 10)...

(abolt-got a 14 for Christmas myself, haven't had op to play with...er....use it yet though, loving the feel and look of it so far tho )

Torture test a folder. Folders are alot more fun to beat on because theres more to go wrong.
Buy a CRKT M16 with that LAWKS thing see how the lock-lock holds up.

For a fixed blade around $40, a Schrade schf9 would be great. Schrade schf10 if you prefer stainless over carbon steel. Other ideas would be an SOG Seal Pup or a Gerber Prodigy. I really think as far as torture testing would go from the ones I listed the Schf9 would do best, it's usually the knife people choose when they can't afford a BK2. I have the schf9 and seal pup myself and love them both though comparatively the Schrade has a thick blade while the pup has a thin blade. I'm sure the Schf10 would do just as good, it's blade is just as thick, I can't speak for the prodigy though but it always seemed like a good knife from the reviews I read. Good luck and can't wait to hear about your choice and testing.
