Which fixed blade...?

Have wanted a one-piece CRK fixed for many years and was sad to hear of their being dropped. Looking to finally acquire one.

I am torn between the 10" Mountaineer II, the 8" Mountaineer I, and the newer 5.5"(blade) GB knife. GB's still being produced, right?

Will be used mostly for camping duties and also taken on various Jeep adventures.

I prefer the plain edges of the Mountaineers and the one-piece is just cool...but I like the handle ergos of the GB and it appears to be an awesome knife.

Last owned fixed that I really liked (for reference) was a 9" RC-4.

Thoughts are appreciated...

The One Piece Knives are absolutely awsome. I think I have 17 of them, lost count and havent bought any in some time. I like the Shadow IV the best out of the 5.5" blades, but the Mountaineer II is great as well. I edc a shadow III during hunting and though I have used it for everything, I chopped a 5" diameter ironwood tree down with it ( took an hour...lol ), it is on the smaller side for such things. Out of the 3 you mentioned, I personally feel the Mountaineer II will serve you the best. There are alot of Mountaineer II fans around here and I am sure they will chime in with their thoughts. I just perssonally think that the spear point blade is more functional than the clip point is all, but thats just me. Get the Mountaineer II while you can, there are some CRK dealers that still have some and you can find them on the bay as well. Just dont pay more than you should !

Thanks and yeah, the Shadow IV is another option. That's actually been the one I've wanted over the years the most...just haven't seen one recently.

I'm leaning towards the M2.

The pics of the knives you see are quite decieving in their size difference. The 5.5" one pieces are alot bigger than the 4" one pieces and the 5.5" GB is even bigger yet. I own the shadow IV, mountaineer I and 5.5" GB. My favorite out of all them is the shadow IV, seems to be the perfect size for most uses and I prefer no serrations. If youd like me to take a pic of all 3 together Id be more than happy to do so.

That'd be great...if you have the time. That'd show all 3 sizes in question.

Thanks. Yeah, that GB is a beast. Awesome piece though.

I'm thinking the M2 or Shadow IV is the ticket.

lol yeah the GB is a badass beast of a knife with an awesome sheath, but once you pack that thing full of outdoors/survival gear ya gotta use a leg strap to keep it from bouncing around.

Can't go wrong with either the M2 or Shadow IV.
