  • Benchmade 551SBK Griptilian®
  • Benchmade 480 Shoki®
  • Benchmade 530 Pardue
  • Combative Edge M1 Serrated
  • CRKT M21-14SFG Veff S.

I'm looking for an EDC, preferably not too thick, or bulky. Which has more features and is the best bang for the buck? Thanks.

I have not heard of that Combative Edge M1 before. It's a pretty cool looking knife. I think I'll put it on my want list.

I don't have any experience with any of them except the Griptilian. The Grips are an excellent design. With all of the hyped up features and steels people on these forums talk about, many forget that knives like the Griptilian are more than enough for most of our needs.

BM530 and M1 are completly differnt type of folders.

And don't take CRKT with 8cr18mov steel - they are much worse than aus-8 ones.

just cut out the crkt completely, I have it, I like it, but it is not even in the same ballpark as the others

Can't go wrong with Benchmade, and you can't go wrong with the Griptilian, but you could go wrong with serrated.. so I'd go with PE Grip

You first need to ask yourself a few questions:
1- What are your EDC needs? Do you break down mass amounts of cardboard or find yourself frequently cutting through tough materials?

2- What is your budget? Do you really want to spend $200 or can you get by spending half or less than that?

3- Is it legal in your area? Say you are driving to work/school and you get pulled over, will you get the knife confiscated for being a 4" folder?

4- Can you sharpen a knife? Many people cannot and claim that some steels are supremely impossible to sharpen. Thsi can be the case for some people, but others can get a mirror edge on a brick with the right equipment.
Just some things to think about.

If you get the Combative Edge you might need to swap out the clip screws. Sometimes the raised heads can snag "on the draw". I like the knife and low profile clip, but I'm concerned about the screws.
