Which Folder?

Hi everyone,

I need your help on chosing a knife. It's sort of frustrating to browse all the knife pics on the www, because you mostly can't see the clip.
I'm looking for a folder with a clip that sits as low as possible in the pocket. It's important for me that no part of the knife but the clip can be seen. Further requirements are:
-Weight 3oz. max.
-Blade Length about 4", a bit more or less is OK.
-Lock Back, preferably with a small dent
-100$ max.
-Plain Edge

Basically, it's the Spyderco Endura, but that rides to high.

Does such a knife exist?

Thabks a lot,
Don Disco

You've described the Spyderco Endura/Delica and Native, or something from David Boye's line.

I don't know what paul is talking about he's got the price range but the whole butt of the knife will be showing!

SOG knives have the type of clip your looking for and the flash series has the weight and price. heres a convenent link:

If you don't like that the only other knife I can think of is the SERE 2000 It's more expensive than you said and heavier but it does have the same type of clip and it's a great knife. Heres the link:

Happy Hunting!

EDIT: Opps I forgot you wanted a lockback...Oh Well These are still nice knives

The CRKT M16 line has a not too long clip that is positioned in the top of the handle. It's quite discrete but it's not a lockback...

In fact there are very few production knives with 4-inched blade what would expose nothing but clip over pocket upper edge. SPYDERCO Meerkat exposes the clip only and additionally it doesn’t look like knife clip but it has twice shorter blade.
In my experience black clip with non-glare finish doesn’t attract too much attention if not too big part of the handle is exposed, say not more than 15-20 mm.
Please think also about BENCHMADE Griptilian as alternative, 550 or 551 – what you do like better. Both have mat black clip and expose only about 20 mm of the handle over pocket edge.
And Welcome to the Forums! :)

Al Mar SERE would be my choice. If you shop around you should be able to get one new, or very slightly used, in your price range.

It sits low, good steel (VG-10), and has a very nice "feel," at lease to me.

Good luck!!!

100 bucks for a folder??? Are you stupid? With that money you can loose your virginity!

Thanks a lot everybody.

I think I'll go for the SOG. It's a bit difficult if you are in an overly PC situation.

Don,

I'm a bit ignorant about knife laws in Europe.

Are spring assisted knives like the SOG Flash legal?

ROTFLMAO :D

As far as the knife question, if it were me I'd reconsider the lock and go with the AL Mar SERE. Even on the web it's going to be more than a hundred but you would never regret it.:)

Auto and assisted are legal as long as you don't bring them to public gatherings (like a demonstration).

I've used a Böker Speedlock for long time (great knife, I was really happy with it). And when I traveled to places where auto is not legal, I just removed the spring (matter of seconds).

Greets,
Don Disco
