Which forum upgrade to get?

I don't know if this is the proper place to ask or not.........

I'm just starting to learn to forge and would like to post some pix for some help. I'd also like to post to the "around the grinder" area.

I doubt if I'll post any "for sale" items...........my stuff is not near as good as what I see here:o

Any suggestions?

Knifemaker......you are and/or want to be, so open access to the forums that may be of interest.....
Also you will be supporting the forum with some $'s. That is good.......
So do it and enjoy the forums to the furthest amount.......
 
I agree with Mr. Fraps. When I upgraded to "knifemaker" member level, it really helped me with access to information that was vital to my growth as a knifemaker. It also makes me feel like part of this community.
 
I understand bodfish's question, because I'm kind of in the same boat. My hesitation about upgrading to "knifemaker" comes from the fact that I don't want to come off as arrogant, since I'm just beginning. I intend to earn/learn my way to calling myself a maker. I'll be watching this thread to see what y'all think about it.

Incidentally, it took me about three days from coming here the first time, to realize it was worth it to at least be a basic member. I have no problem paying for my use of this forum, because I've learned so much from it :thumbup:
 
perhaps you could pm Spark or a super about what access platinum can get you without the title of 'knifemaker', if you aren't ready to be called one yet.
 
I was wondering the same thing, at what point do you or I consider someone a knifemaker? 1st knife, 2nd knife.......? When do you feel confident and good enough to post a knife for sale? Like Gibson Fan says, I don't want to come off as arrogant but would like the benefits of an upgrade. I call myself a knifemaker sometimes because I've made a few, but others might not have the same opinion. Yep, others opinions matter to me and I think you have to earn the title. At what point do you feel worthy of that title? Maybe we should vote.... and please vote for me, I promise a new car in every garage, a chicken in every pot and a bunch of other promises I can't fulfill.:D
 
Speaking as a beginner who's made a few knives, I think that a knifemaker membership shows your support of this site and that you are trying to learn. The membership alone is worth as much as my Apprentice membership in the ABS -- it means I support them by paying them money. Now if I ever get to ABS Journeyman (hint Dan, start forging) it would say something about me as a maker.
 
jdm61 changed the title thingy in his avatar to say "knifemangler". Can you do that with a knifemaker membership or is it a platinum thing?

EDIT never mind, I looked it up. Duh.
