Im currently in the maket for a new folder to replace my old spyderco delica as my my edc. I would like it to be some sort of framelock. Right now im really goignt toward buying a Large Sebenza but there are some other suggestions that look nice as well. The Bradley Cutlery Alias 1, The Combat Elite Tactical Elite Level 1, and the RJ Martin Contender. All knives have Titanium framelocks, with S30v blade steels and they are all around the same size. The Bradley folder is the cheapest, I do like the g10 inserts on the contender, but the Sebenza well its just been the standard that it seems like all other folders have been judged by. So any help would be nice it deciding which one to buy or any other suggestions althoug they need to be at or under 500.

You could add a Rick Hinderer framelock to the list.IMO you will always be thinking about a Sebenza if you do'nt get one.As for all the other knives you may find difference in the "fit" .They will vary so I would try to handle one before buying.I'm also interested in the R.J. Martin Contender framelock.

I hate G10, but RJ makes as nice a knife as you will ever find. The Buck/Mayo is a real winner in the bang-for-the-buck catagory, nice size as well. I agree with Dave that the Bradley is a decent knife for $100, overpriced and trying to ride on others coat tails at the current asking price.

I personally find the large Sebenza to be a great knife, I like it so much that I should be disqualified from these threads.

Buck 179 Hilo is a true bargain.
Wouldn't break your heart if you lost it, yet, will do anything you ask it too!

Rick Hinderer makes an awesome framelock!! BUT, like has been said, you will always want a Sebenza, until you get one!!

You can save a bit of money and go with a Mini Skirmish. S30V steel, titanium frame, and the framelock you desire. I have one and it is a fantastic EDC. PGH~

Kinda hard to find a Hinderer, lately. I've been waiiting for many months for a Firetack. Rick seems to be tied up with colaborations.

I've never handled a Sebenza so I have never understood all the hoop-la about them. They aren't that good looking and they look quite slippery.

Personally, I'm hot for an R.J. Martin Contender or a Brian Tighe Tiebreaker. I haven't handled them either but at least I love them on looks. I can't imagine that I would not be happy as hell with either one of them. ]

I know it's going against the grain here at BF to not be in total love and adoration of the Sebenza (and vitually all Spyderco knives) but frankly, I just don't get it and I think that there are a whole lot of knives out there that have way more appeal.

Then again, maybe I don't know what the hell I am talking about.

I'd say go for the large Seb. Especially if you want an everyday user. Easy to take apart and clean and relatively easy to replace. If you lose a custom it could take a while to replace. Heck I know a couple places I could get a large LH Sebbie within a couple days. If I can make it to South Coast Plaza I can get one the same day (assuming Plaza Cutlery has one in stock). No not as fancy as some of the customs but a good solid simple folding knife and highly maintainable. But, like James, I'm highly biased toward CRK so I guess you'd have to take my opinion with this in mind. I also have a fair number of custom knives but when I decide what folding knife to carry, one question that I ask myself is how would I handle it if I lost it somehow. And despite cost and replacability, I seem to gravitate back to one type of Sebbie or another. No they're certainly not everyone's cup of tea for one reason or another but they work for me.;)

I find myself leaning more and more toward the Sebanza although i would love to hear anyopinions on the RJ Martin Contender. Right now it seems like i would choose between one of those 2. The Buck mayo and a great price its just the looks really don't appeal to me.

I agree, the tactical elite looks really sweet, and now that they're offering tanto blades, that makes it even sweeter. I haven't handled one, but if someone has one i'd love an opinion.

There was Firetac listed on BF for sale or trade, by Commodorwheeler. It was a Firetac Extreme! I myself traded with someone (TIR) here for a Firetac. (I have been waiting a very long time for my Flashover.I know he is busy, but I know he will make my knife!! No worries!! I am glad that he is busy!!) But, a Firetac CAN be had!!
