Which GEC to choose?

In this joyful christmassy time of year I'm facing a big dilema. After will gifted me his calf roper I'm constantly thinking about getting another GEC. It's a tough decision though. I've been checking out a certain site a lot and am deciding between 2-3 knives. The first's a jigged bone #14 with two blades. It looks lovely, but I'm afraid it's gonna be a bit too small. I've already got a peanut and would preffer something around 3.5 inches. You'll think I'm weird, but the beer scouts don't appeal to ke much. I love the look of the #15 boy's knives. Yet the only one on the site has a AOL main blade, which's keeping me back. The blade shape concerns me a bit, how does it carry? How is slicing with it? Also, the 14 and 15 boy's knives are afaik all steel, that means patina on bolsters as well, or? Since I'm a user, it concerns me, especially when I think of our rather humid summers. Then there's a #57 wrangler in buffalo horn. Stockman configuration, yet I could use it as a jack knife (which are my favourites) since the third blade's an awl and the lack of a sheepfoot should make it more comfortable. The #57 frame looks somewhat beefy, how does it do in the pocket and in the hand?
I thank you for your time and advise!

Best regards and Marry Christmas

Merry Christmas Zan. I hope I can help. I have all three. The 14 is small but quite useful. The 15 with the clip point might be the best all around. I just received a 57 wrangler with the awl and it is beefy. I'm not sure but I think the clip main on the 57 and the 66 are the same. I'm not home but I can post comparative photos on Monday.

Here is the pic of the 57 from Thursday when I received it.

The current BF knife is amazing, available, and affordable. About the size of a 77, my favorite knife ever.

+ 1 on the 35 , it's got a lot going for it . I own a couple 14's and one 57 . The 14 is small and feels completely different than the 15 . The 57 is a strange pattern in my opinion . The clip seems fat and stubby. I like it because of its oddity though.I completely understand wanting another knife but perhaps you should hold out for the next 15 run . I also know the regret of passing while available.

Thanks for your comments, chaps. Any thoughts on the #73 jack configuration?

Žan, I have a #73 jack from 2009 that I have modified into a very useful knife. The original wasn't bad, but the mods I made, turning the spey main into a drop point, and grinding the pen down to a coping blade made it even better. I love the burnt bone, too.

It's pretty stout, but not a nail breaker . . . I'd say a 7-8.

Hmm, seems quite stout indeed. Can probably be softend a bit if well oiled and left in the 1/4 or 3/4 possition for a while and then used a lot?

It's terrible because I change my mind every two weeks. :D I know one can't miss much with a GEC but you know ...

Here's a 15 with longpull Clip and 66 Slim with Turkish/Californian Clip

The latter should be familiar to you Zan ...;)

Thanks, Will

That #66 with sawcut red bone and a turkish clip is just gorgeous (:jerkit:) and will be hard to beat in that size I think. If you want larger, 77, 85, and 92 are all really good patterns. If you want a knife that is more user orientated, then the 71/72/73 are great knives with a real workhorse feel.

Will, it sure looks familiar, like the one in my pocket right now :D

Thank you all for your recommendations, I've now ordered a #73 Northfield in a jack configuration. Hopefully it will calm the knife madness for a while now ...
