Which GPS to buy?

Im looking for a great GPS to be hand held, contain topo maps (Canada) with a good screen. I was thinking on the garmin oregon series but im not sure on what to buy. Anyone have any suggestions based on experience?

I have the Garmin Montana 650T but I'm not certain it comes with Canadian Topo. I would have to double check that feature. It also has a digital camera feature that I really enjoy. It includes coordinates with each pic. Very handy. Signal reception has been very good and no glitches for me so far. I will have a stronger opinion by fall. :)

Before the Montana was available, I would have recommended the Oregon. Best wishes with your purchase.

Thanks and keep em coming folks. I don't need the camera feature unless its a free one. I do want a good GPS though.

I have a Garmin Montana, couldn't be happier. The units are similar. I would make one suggestion, don't have the maps preloaded. They offer the maps on a micro SD, if anything happens to the gps you can transfer the maps to the new one.

I have a few. All garmin a map60cs, a rhino and an eTrex Vista. For what its worth I prefer the etrex. The toggle is much easier to use.

I have the Garmin Oregon 550T and the only complaint I have is it is kind of difficult to see the screen in direct sunlight, other than that, it is a very good GPS.

Garmin are likely the most practical. However I use a Delorme PN60W that is paired with my spot. Keeps the better half happy knowing I'm safe and sound:D. mine came with the maps on a CD that I could load

I use an eTrex Vista HCx Good little unit for the price. If you want detailed topo maps, you need to buy them separately.

I have the GPSMAP62cs and love it. It's the Sebenza of the GPS receivers!

So do I! It rocks but unfortunately it is discontinued and we can no longer get updates including maps.

The Montana is on my short list to purchase. Any comments from those who used to have the 62cs and upgraded to the Montana is appreciated!

The GPSMAP62 is NOT discontinued (for now); the GPSMAP60 is, though.

I am loving the Oregon 450. I use it mostly for mountain biking and attach it to the handlebars. I get all my maps from other sources that are mostly free. I still have a ton to learn on this thing though. I usually ride alone so I like to get gps files from other people to help guide my way and it's been priceless.
