Which Griptilian would you recomend?

I've decided to get a griptilian for my next edc. The only problem is that I am somewhat stuck on exactly which one to get. All the options seem too good.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

I would get (in fact, I have) the 551 from Cabela's. It comes with a D2 blade. The handle is wonderful and the Axis lock is great.

:( Sadly they no longer appear to be available in D2

I am real happy with my 556. When I was picking mine out I thought the mini-grip had a better feel than the grip. You really can't go wrong either way.

I couldn't find the D2 blade, so I bought a 551 from New Graham. I like it a lot. I think the 440C is fine though I have not really used any "higher end" steels.

I did do some blade reprofiling to get the edge I wanted, but no biggie.

The Cabelas on-line catalog might be wrong. The graphic says D2 while the text indicates 440C. I got one just 10 days ago and it's D2. Cabelas might have both D2 and 440C with very similar stock numbers, but I think the text in the on-line catalog is wrong. Call Cabelas toll-free and order over the phone. They use a different reference and it says D2.

I have both a 556 Mini-Griptilian and a 551 full-sized Griptilian. If you have small hands or tough knife-laws where you're at, get the "Mini". If you have large hands or don't have restrictive knive-laws where you are, get the full-sized Griptilian. Other than size, they are both the same excellent folder.

...Or if you can, get both, as they make a GREAT pair.

Lately I find myself carrying my 556, because my main carry has been my 805 or my 710. The 556, due to its smaller size, is a good "in-addition-to" knife. :) And for me, the thumb studs work better than the hole on the smaller version. But if you are carrying only one knife and plan to work harder with it, I would recommend the 550 (or 551).

Thanks to Everyone for their suggestions

I am going to go with either the 550 or the 551. I am up in Canada, and the carrying laws are fairly lax here, fortunately. Right now I am going for the larger one as I plan on using it for some of my harder tasks, but I am certain that I am going to end up getting the mini griptilian too.

The Ritter Griptillian is a very good option, but AFAIK they are back-ordered. Availability of the RSK is subject to Benchmade's production schedule and the first run did not make enough knives to fill all the initial requests.

I got mine :)
