I'm looking to purchase a folding skinner with a gut hook and I'm wondering if anyone here might have some advice about the models I'm considering.
The models are:
Gerber Gator in 154CM
Buck Alpha Hunter in 420HC, 154CM or S30V
I think the gut hook on the Alpha might function a little bit better for my purposes, but I've never used either model (Alpha or Gator) so I'm not sure.
My main criteria is good edge holding ability. I'd like to be able to get through a moose, bear, etc, (skinnning, quartering, etc.) without the need to re-sharpen. The Gator and Alpha Hunter are the main two models I'm considering, but I'm open to other suggestions as well. Thanks.
