Looking to buy a hatchet. What do you all suggest I get?

I've been looking at the Gransfors Wildlife and Wetterlings Wildlife axe and small hunting axe. I currently own a Gransfors Small Forest axe but was wanting something smaller. What do you all think, anything American made???

Thanks for the advice!!

Hi Jer,

Although I am a "newbie" to the Axe and Hatchet World, I HIGHLY recommend scoping out Yard Sales/Flea Markets/etc. in search of older American Axes. I have only been searching/collecting for around four weeks and I have already collected NINE nice condition Hatchets/Axe & Hatchets Heads (and half a dozen nice knives)! I got VERY lucky my first time out and found a beautiful condition NORLUND "Saddle Cruiser" small double bit Hatchet for less than ten dollars! I have found (aside from Norlund) such names as COLLINS, NORTH WAYNE TOOL CO., PLUMB, WARREN OLD FAITHFUL, TRUE-TEMPER WOODSMAN, TRUE TEMPER GENUINE UNDERHILL and a VERY old forged KENT Axe head (no markings). Let me put it this way.....I've purchased TEN Axes/Hatchets for less than HALF the cost of a single Swedish Axe. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Regards,
HARDBALL
