I have a choice between these two True Temper Kelly Perfect axe heads. Planning to restore/hang one and looking for opinions on which head would be the better choice. One has mushrooming and no ridges in the eye. The other has a dent/crack on the pole and has 4 ridges in the eye. Thanks for the help.

The bottom head on these pictures has a fuller bit and less wear on the toe - so that's the one I would pick. I think that might also be the one with eye ridges. I think you also said it had a crack in the poll which looked like in the pictures was just a little bit in the top corner which isn't a big deal as you shouldn't be banging on steel with the poll anyways so it shouldn't get worse as long as you don't abuse the axe.

Some others mentioned the same thing about the bit and the toe, so thats the one I ended up going with. Thanks for the input. Looking forward to hanging it.

Bottom one with the strong toe.

The chip also indicates a hardened poll.
