Which HI Blade should I bring? Which would you bring?

I'm thinking about borrowing my brothers truck tomorrow to go camping up by the Payson lakes here in Central Utah. If I go I plan to do some hiking, reading and meditating in camp and star gazing. Got everything picked out for trip except for the Large HI Blade.

So I was thinking, if you were going to go camping this weekend which large HI Blade would you bring? I'm trying to deside between my 15" (almost 2 pound) AK, 16.5" WWII, 20" Sirupati and my HI Bolo.

I'll be camping in an area with Quaking aspen, Scrub oak, Elm and some ever greens.

I would definitely suggest you bring your 16.5" WWII.

I'm currently in possession of a 15" 1.4ish lb AK and 18" 2.3lb Vojpuri (both by Sher the tiger) and if I were to only bring one knife on a short camping trip, it would probably be the 15" AK. The AK does most tasks quite well without wearing out my arm like the Vojpuri tends to do over long sessions. Also, the Vojpuri is just a little too large to do finer tasks - it can handle them, but the effort required just lifting the blade makes the whole process seem silly.

Ideally though, I'd bring probably bring the Vojpuri and my Becker BK-2... including the karda, that gives me 3 knives of varying sizes that could probably accomplish ANY task I found myself needing to do.

killa_concept, thanks for your post. Got any pictures of your Vojpuri? I have tons of knives and most of the time I go camping I have a hard time figuring out which ones to bring.

I will be bringing a Byrd Raven Folder, SOG PowerLock, SOG Revolver fixed blade, SOG SK5 Tigershark (link is to the old stainless version, mine is the older Carbon steel version), a hawk and a Khukri. Out of 60+ knives it didn't take me long to deside to go SOG for my main blades and HI for the really big one. Trying to figure out which Khukri is taking me longer. LOL!!

Another one for the WW2, these are tools as well as fighters and were one of uncle Bills favs!

My 17 3/4" WW II is an extension of my arm. I'd choose the WW II:)

Hope you have a real fun time, Heber. Let us know if you see any shooting stars.

Good recommendations and information. Please keep it coming! It's fun reading what people would choose for their trips and why.

My WWII and 20" Sirupati have seen the most use out of all the Khukris I've owned. Have continued to modify my HI Bolo's handle and am liking it more and more. It's probably time to give it another work out. A bolo and 12" AK sound like a good combination. Maybe I'll give that a try.

I have a mini tripod and camera that are already packed for the trip. Will take pictures if I go and remember to.

Ironhandjohn. My first HI kuk was an M-43 and now I have two M-43's, plus others.

I plan on picking up another M-43 with horn handle, preferably by Bura or Sher, in the near future.

Graceful, elegant perfection!
