Which Husky torx set from Home Depot is most commonly recommended here?

I keep reading references to this set from Home Depot, but I'm not sure which model is being referred to. Please inform me on the recommended set from Home Depot. I need to adjust the pivot on my new Manix 2 G-10. Thank you.

Buy a Wiha set. I don't know about the Manix, but a T6, T8 and T10 should be what 99% of knives use.

This is what I've used; I have two of them, actually. Seems to be pretty commonly recommended here, and I've had no problems with mine. I don't know if HD still carries them in the stores, as they might be stocking a different model now, but I'm pretty sure they can still be ordered through their online site (listed as 'Husky 8-IN-1 Torx Screwdriver Set'):

( BTW, the Wiha sets are nice; but the pocketability of this Husky set is what makes me reach for it most of the time. I have two Wiha sets as well, and almost never use them. )

I have that same Husky pictured above and it works fine. I'm sure the Wiha is better as I've heard that so many times. But so far, no problems with my Husky. Here's a hot tip for you on the Husky: Inside the handle is a piece that will hold 3 of the 4 bits for storage, which is great but... What to do with the 4th bit? If you're like me, you want all 4 bits in the handle so you can carry or store it as a single unit. But how? Easy. Yank out the insert inside the handle with a pair of pliers. It's not even held in with glue; it slides right out. Then you can store all 4 bits inside. :)

I've had both and worn out plenty Husky's with sticky screws when removing scales. I have the Wiha now and it's great. Best set I've had, honestly, is Craftsman from Sears. And they have a lifetime warranty. After using mine constantly for over a year, I've never needed t oreplace it yet. My .02

I have the set Obsessed with Edges posted and I stripped the T6 on a tight screw and they replaced it. So I would recommend it as an inexpensive set. The HD near me had them a couple months ago.

I have that same Husky driver, I own 2 of them actually, have not stripped any screws and it still have all the teeth on every bit.

i have a Pro Tech Toolkit from iFixit.com.
it's got a 54 bit driver kit and other goodies.
there's not much that i can't get into.

Thanks. I appreciate all the advice in goodwill here. I am learning. I have owned two small knives (leek & mini griptilian) for several years (around 9) now, but I'd like to learn more...

Buy a Wiha set.

I have gone through 2 of the Husky sets, and both sets bent and broke. They work for a while, but over time the soft metal starts to deform. I ended up with a Wiha set, which I should have done in the first place. If you look around, they aren't that spendy. And it may save you some grief and some money in the long run.

I have had zero luck with Craftsman. All of the torx driver I got from Sears stripped repeatedly and had to be replaced repeatedly until the Sears in town closed and I just chucked them. No screws were ruined, but the drivers had a bad habit of bending in a spiral. The black handle green cap ones were way better than the crappy clear plastic handle ones, but still not that good.

Best driver set I have gotten is a precision screwdriver set from Harbor Freight Tools. It was about $10, and the only bits I had strip were Philips and flat bits when the wrong size (too small) was used and torx on screws I later found out were secured with white or red thread lock. No damaged screws except when the screws themselves were bad (too soft) or when the bits were damaged. Over a year of almost daily used and I have had to replace 1 bit, and that was a Philips. Best part is they will replace any bits that have the slightest damage for free if you bring your set with you when you go into the store. I preemptively replaced quite a few bits.

I need to adjust the pivot on my new Manix 2 G-10.

I don't know about the Manix2 (newbie myself with limited Spyderco experience :( ), but the pivot screws on my Delica4, Stretch, and byrd Meadowlark2 are all size T-9.

So, you'll need to find out the Manix2 pivot screw size before purchasing a Torx driver set. If you don't get an answer in this thread, go ahead and contact Spyderco.

The Manix 2 pivot is T10, same as clip screws, if I remember correctly. I think the body screws are T8.

I bought a set of Husky's from HD 6-7 years ago and all the torx bits I used stripped.
Some people have good luck with them but not me. Maybe a vendor or QC thing?
I went with Whia. No problems.

I don't know about Husky . . . doesn't sound like the Apex of quality to me . . . for serious tool bits I look to Bosch. They are nice and hard and I have never broken one. I use the allen metric Bosch bits ALL DAY LONG EVERY DAY at work and THEY ARE THE BEST I CAN FIND.

The tiny Torx bits I had before that for my knives I would loosen something and look at the bit and it was spiraled AND they didn't fit in the Torx as tight as the Bosch. I have looked for a set but just end up ordering individual bits to replace the ones in the bit storage block I already have.
Yeah
Bosh !

The one on the right is what you want

Oh man ! You are so right !
That's the stuff; won't spiral and nice and stiff.
I take it they are hard enough and fit well ?
