Which inlay would you choose? Bocote or Lignum Vitae

Ah...this CRK fever never ends....

I'm thinking of getting a small sebenza with wood inlay this time. Currently, I'm undecided between Bocote and Lignum Vitae. I appreciate your inputs. :)
This will be a user. So, is there anything that I should know about the properties of the each inlay?

Best,

I have always loved Bocote. I think its the nicest wood available for inlays. There are others with more figure, but Bocote has always remained my favorite.

Bocote will always get my :thumbup:

I also like the striking appearance of Bocote, but I would probably go with Lignum just because it also has an interesting appearance plus some historic character.

"See this......densest wood you can buy.....self lubricating.....used to make shaft bearings in old ships....yada yada...."

For me, it's cool when there is more to the story than what you first see.

I agree 110% on its historical features and Lignum does indeed have a story. As for as figure wise, Bocote wins and it is tough and durable. But like you said, Lignum is indeed the wood of woods. Can't go wrong with either. In the end, you will probably have BOTH, just gotta pick which ONE if First...lol

When I finally decide to get a Large wood inlay Sebenza I'm going to hold out for one with Lignum.

No particular reason other than that's what I decided I'd go with and I'm stubborn:p

My laptop is getting hot cause right now I'm busy with googling/youtubing the knives with those inlays and comparing them....wow...it's going to be a tough decision. someone just tell me I should buy this or that. Otherwise, my search will never end!

I read a while back that CRK is no longer offering Lignum as an inlay choice. If this is the case, then that might very well make your decision for you.

Agree with this post, and I'd add that I think LV was discontinued by CRK a while back, so grabbing one while you can might be a good idea. LV is on a list of tropical hardwoods that can't be imported any more under most circumstances.

Thanks everyone for your valuable inputs.

I decided to go with Lignum.

Ditto .... that's the word I got as well. Was feeling really fortunate when I recently snagged my small, as I heard it was in the last batch going out from CRK. So ... you may have to keep an eye on the Exchange or other such listings.

I already ordered one from KnivesShipFree.com. Placed an order an hour ago. got the shipping notice email 30 min. later. Wow! For all of you are interested in lignum, there is still one left on their website. (by the way, I got the #2)

Thanks D.R.H.
By the way, your Sebenza collection is great! The pictures are really good too.

I have matching large and small LV Classics. I predict you'll be very pleased.

Good choice.
From what I've seen Bocote can have many different colors - so this might be your next one.

Great, now you made me order a large Lignum Vitae.
This Sebenza obsession is becoming expensive.
