I was looking at the Kershaw Blur for around $56 and the Kershaw Storm II for around $30. Honestly I dont really need the assisted opening and am wondering if that is what the extra cost is for? I really liked the feel and size of the storm 2 but dont really know if Kershaws are good knives. I know the spydercos are supposed to be very good but I really hate the way they look. Anyhow does anyone have Kershaw knives and what do you think of the storm II at a cost of around $30? thanks

I use to have a Kershaw Storm (I, the smaller one) and thought it was really awesome. You have to check it first to see if the lockup is solid though, as I read some reviews on where there was some blade play, although the lockup on mine was perfect. Mine came with super sharp blade (Sandvik steel?), and I read that it supposedly holds an edge pretty well. I don't think that you will regret getting the storm. My only complaint about it though, is that the grip on it is a little TOO grippy, and could scrape ur hand if u brush up against it in your pocket.

I would chose the Storm. I don't like AOs, it has better lock, steel, bledeprofile and it is even less expensive than the Blur.

IMO the Storm II is a great bargain at $29.00. I bought a Blur Sunday at WalMart but checked out the Storm while I was there.

I think you're correct , you are paying for A/O.

I like gadgets and have tons of manual knives so I bought the Blur , but if you don't want A/O then the Storm is a great knife for the price.

So far I have not been disappointed with anything I've bought made by Kershaw.

Yes, I was at walmart too and handled both the blur and the storm II. I really thought the quality on the storm was nice and the handle seemed more durable than the blur. The only thing I really dont care for is the finish. I wish they had all black Storm II models.

I'd go with the storm 2 because sooner or later the spring is going to break. The bright side is Kershaw will stand behind their product but you'll have to send it in for repair unless you're feeling froggy and tackle it yourself. ahgar

Go for the Storm or Storm II.

I think it's a better knife and it's a frame lock instead of a liner lock, and it's made in the USA (the Blur might be too but I don't know).

Funny you mentioned that JOeDirt, I really dont even know the difference in the frame or liner locks? But now I feel the need to know more. Also, I have heard benchmades are top of the line knives but I dont really like the plain design. I guess Im picky though. I really liked the way the storm 2 felt in my hand. I would like to find the fixed vertigo to go along with it.

I ended up buying the Kershaw Storm II. I think this is a good quality knife for the price. It seemed pointless to pay $56 for the assisted opener when this opens so smooth anyhow and one handed easily. Well it is a good rope cutter but now onto bigger things for heavy duty use....

I have a Storm 2. I bought it first and then went back and bought the Blur also. The Blur has 440A steel that can't compare to the Storm Sandvik 13C26 steel. I took the Blur back and got my money back for it! Sixty dollars! You can get 2 Storms for that same price. I challenge anyone here to offer up a knife than can run with a Storm 2 for the price, quality, material, and design.

Delica 4. Lock is better, IMO, and the design is much better at only ten or so bucks more. Better blade steel. It's probably lighter too.

Yes but still there is a cost difference of $10. Not alot but even so. Everyone has different hands and prefers their own unique grip I suppose. I honestly really like the storm's feel and grip. I agree that it would be difficult to find another large size folder with the same quality for the $30 pricetag.

The blade shape looks troublesome to me, though, and I don't like the stylized look much. It's an opinion thing for sure, and it's a damned good knife for the money regardless.

I have a Kershaw storm, not the II. It has been a good knife. comfortable to hold. My storm atleast seems harder to open with the thumbstuds than alot of other knives, so If my hands are sweaty it's kind of hard to open. But i dont have to worry about it opening in my pocket.
