Which is better, Camillus or Kabar?

They'll both have similar steel and the thickness is the same. Camillus had a smoother coating, but Uncle E told me that Ka-Bar's heat treat is better, so that's the best endorsement I can think of.
 
I've been more impressed overall with the Ka-bar knives I've owned over the Camillus.
I understand that Camillus is gone and the Beckers they made are now "collectible", but to me they are not worth the extra mark up. You're getting nothing better quality-wise. All you're getting is a knife made by a company that is no longer in buisiness. It kills me to see how much some of the Camillus Beckers sell for.
 
I couldn't say for sure which is better as I've not handled a Cam 10. But I can tell you with absolute certainty that you can't go wrong with a Ka-Bar.
 
well, people selling you used Camillus will want a bounty for rare and collectible and stuff.

but you don't get a warranty

KaBar is making almost the entire lineup, warranty intact

now, there are some differences. if you want full-tang, most of the Camillus should handle that

if you want thicker on some models? Camillus or even Blackjack. otherwise, KaBar has you covered.

new models? Camillus has nothing on that.

if you can get a Cammy in good shape and cheap? buy it.

Going out of business doesn't mean a bad product. You can have a great product but lousy business practices. I don't know much about Camillus, but I do know I'd like some of their Beckers.
 
Hmmmmmmmm.......

The steels are very similar....... I think the KaBar heat treating protocol is superior and I think the fit and finish on current production models are the best they have ever been.......

I had a Camillus BK10 years ago, but got rid of it and regretted it ever since. Just picked up another one with original sheath for a reasonable price, and was wondering how it compared to the new KBar versions. I think I'll keep this one for use in the woods, with a replacement Azwelke sheath...
