If you had a choice which 9"x11" SIC abrasive would you buy?
Klingspor 9" x 11" Sandpaper Sheets @ $25. per 50 sheets
OR
3M Imperial Sheet Paper @ $50. per 50 sheets
Or
What do you use and Why did you choose it?
Thanks!!!

I'd go with the 3M Imperial sheets, even at the higher cost. The Klingspor sheets I've used seem to break down a whole lot quicker than the 3M's I think you can get a bit better deal on the 3M's at supergrit.com but I could be wrong. Either way, I think they are worth the extra. Also think about the Rhynowet brand SC sheets. They are a great value and hold up much better than the Klingspor in my opinion.

Hi John,
The important part is longevity and quality. The prices I put up were to show the ball park 2 to 1 cost.
I have been using the Klingspor and wondered why the 3M were so expensive. Brand names can cost more just because of the name.
Thanks John.
Any body else?

Up to 1000grit, I use regular cheap 3M wet/dry "automotive" paper from the hardware store, then switch to Black Ice for high grit final polishing (up to 2000 grit). I feel the Black Ice is worth $1.25/per sheet because it works very quickly and last very well. It generally takes a quarter sheet of Black Ice to finish a 4" blade, if I've been careful and didn't leave nasty scratches in the steel before that point.

Can't say about the 3M Imperial, sounds interesting though. I've heard good things about Rhynowet too.
