I really think the drop point tanto looks cool. would it be harder to manipulate than the bowie because of the weight of the blade at the tip? which one should i buy first?

If you like the 47 [tanto] better than get that, it is a bit slower since there is more weight at the tip and the bowie is said to be the fastest of the 3 but it all depends on what you want in a bali. If you want what you like visually get the 47, if you want speed, get the 43.

You'll get passionate arguments both ways. When BM was offering the 44 and the 45, the same argument raged. The fact that they sold both indicates that some like one and some like the other. To some extent, it depends on your style of manipulation. Speaking as one who has tried both the 43 and the 47, I prefer the 43. Others will prefer the 47. In the spirit of tolerance and acceptance, I respect their right to be wrong.

I'm not a big fan of tantos, but that 47 really looks good. The 43. I wished that it had more of a belly. I think it would look better that way. Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong either way. :)

Well if you had the money i would get both.:p
But I guess it depends, Ive never had a tanto so I'm not sure how much of a good user it would make.
Also about the bowie needing more belly: Does anyone know if someone could like sharpen it down to look like it had a belly?

I say go with a bm42, like me(off topic) I just got it today, well I got the bm42A. That is what everyone has before they get a bm43 or a bm47 usually. I say I am going to ask for a bm43 for Chrismas.:D Im broke now because of my bm42A purchase of $112 + shipping wth the miltech -one (19.99 + shipping)I bought the sniper package.:D Well on my way to getting good balis. Tonight and tomorrow I will spend the day getting use to the weight change.:( Oh well I dont mind:D

Sorry for getting off the topic. I just had to tell people that I got my first nice bali today bm42A.:D

Personally I like the bm43 better because it moves faster and it isnt front heavy. That is just my personal prefernce though.:D

The 47 is my favorite because I'm a tanto nut.;) The 43 in my opinion operates a little faster and smoother than the 42 and the 47 though.

Indeed it's a question of blade type taste. Don't know if it has a real impact on manipulation.
Personnally, I've never liked Bowie and have always appreciated Tanto (the Cold Steel Master Tanto was my first love at first sight).
It may come from the attirance I have for the "Asian touch".
I find the Tanto blade very modern, and yet traditional.
The Bowie is "oldie" for me, and does not fit the modern Ti anodized handles.

Chuck, I love your remark about tolerance ;-)
