After some dedicated use, which would be a better EDC for normal use, from trimming a sandwich to cutting down a cardboard box, a Blur in S30V or one in SG2? Assume they are both available at the same cost. Please offer your experiences with one, or hopefully, both of them. Thank you!

I would get both. Use one for the sandwiches and the other for boxes because personally I think cardboard flavored sandwiches taste gross.

Stainz, I have both. In my opinion, I'd pick the SG2 everytime. I have found that it will take a much sharper (finer, more polished) edge than the S30V, and retention seems about equal.

But I agree with the above: Buy both! :D

SG2 is sharper out of the box and holds a thinner edge longer and is a better slicer. s30v is the better choice for heavy and hard use. but if they are available at the same cost go with SG2, its one of my favorite steels and the premium nature of it is something special.

You may have something there... at least the explanation as to why the chicken-burger I had for lunch tasted like cardboard! Note to self... burger places make better beef burgers, not necessarily good chickenburgers!

Still, anyone with both have an opinion of one over the other? Yeah, I guess if I can find an SG2, I should grab it... probably a moot point.

I only have the SG-2 Blur and have not wondered how it'd cut in S30V. 13C26 or 420HC, sure, but it's very fine in SG-2.

YES, what he said! ;) I screwed up an SG2 blade doing something I should have used an s30V for. Properly used, both are excellent steels
