Which is the better knife, the Zero Tolerance 0300 series or the Kershaw Offset? Being they are in the same price range and made by virtually the same company, I was wondering which to get. I have heard the 0300 is dang near bullet proof, but I have also heard good things about the Offset, however I question wheather the Offset is as functional. Whenever I call Kershaw to find out about the Offset, the ladies there always tell me that it is mainly for show, especially the blade design. Anyways, just wondering what all you fine people out there think on the subject.

Cheers!

For the same amount of money, I'd go with the 0300. Both are too big for my personal EDC (Every Day Carry), but both are great knives. I do prefer the S30V Steel and the reversible/ambidextrous pocket clip on the 0300. And I like the blade shape of the 0300, as I feel it is more functional.

Do you have any other Kershaws? The level of quality and service I have received from Kershaw is outstanding, and because of it, I only buy Kershaw knives. Thomas W, a member of this forum, is a KAI USA/Kershaw Knives Executive and just as crazy about knives as we are (maybe more)! He is another reason I only buy Kershaw. Stick around a while and you'll see why.

Poop, welcome to the forums.

The short of it:

Offset, Onion design, 1st MIM blade to hit the market (440C), also our first "Double Pumper" SpeedSafe. Limited production (100 pieces a month), Stud Lock.

300 Series ZT, Onion/Strider collaboration, 3-D machined G-10 scale and titanium frame lock. S30V steel.

Both are a handful (and pocketful), and both are flagship patterns.

So when will Kershaw create an Offset in S30V?

I find the Offset an intriguing design and I'm dying to actually hold one. Unfortunately there aren't any real knife shops near Topeka.

Presently I have the tactical blur, my first kershaw, I absolutely love it. Also, how do you get a gold membership?

this is just a wild guess, but i would think that if the Offset were to have a s30v blade the MSRP would jump quite a bit. the reason i think this is because the 440c is "softer" (that one is open to a bunch of definitions) and is realitivly easier to mold. s30v, i would think, is a good bit harder and thus would be alot harder to do the MIM technique to. that and it would be expensive to buy all of that steel in order to mold it. sure i would love to see the offset with the s30v steel, but it would then be like a $400+ knife. would the ends justify the means? i would buy, but would kershaw sell enough to do well with it if the price were to go up?

just my opinion

my suggestion is 2 fold. the Offset with serrations and maybe a mini-offset??

offset baby! that should surprise no one, just look at my name! my small group leader is called poopstick, kinda funny when i think of it, with ur name here and all. lol

I don't know about that, offset is just plain big. also the offset's handles (as of right now) are not available in textured G10, and i'd really want that if i were planning on using it as a hard use knife. otherwise it's slippery when wet. plus it's harder to resharpen. Personally i think i'd buy the 0200... AND a Ti Framelock Bump :D

I didn't mean to suggest that the 440MIM was an inferior steel. Kershaw has just begun with their MIM possibilities, so the best is yet to come.

And I think a smaller offset design is a great idea! a 3.5 inch blade? Cool.

I had an Offset when they first came out and the stupid stud lock would fail just by forcing the blade closed with my hands, like a big slip joint. I sent it back and it still failed the same. I would not trust the stud lock on a blade that size. When I looked at the lock while putting pressure on the spine the spring was too week and the stud moved forward until it failed.

neither am i saying that 440MIM is inferior. i like 440 steel. i find it reliable in many things. twas just a guess. i am by no means an expert in steels and am just going on what i have heard about s30v. i also have no idea as to how MIM is really done  (i know basics, no nitty gritty stuff) so i wouldnt know. like i said it was a guess. lol

i was thinking maybe a 3 inch blade. isnt the offset at 3.75 anyway?
