Which of these makes the best all around folder and why?
Commander, CQC-11, CQC-12
 
entirely subjective.

i carry a 13 most days. whichever is the most comfortable and has the blade shape you find most useful.
 
The CQC-11 and the commander have the same edge profile, but the 11 has kind of a spear point with the wavy edge. I have a commander that has become my favorite EDC knife, it feels like a fixed blade when open but is light and easy to carry in my pocket. Oh and most non-knife fans get intimidated/frightened by the size of the commander if you need to open a package or something, if that's a concern to you.

I'll be picking up a CQC 10 one of these days...
 
imho the very best production EKI is the CQC12.

why?

*its a frame lock vs a liner lock.

*its almost a std "V" grind.

*its a little thinner and thus carries a little better than most other EKI's.

*i like the handle and blade shape.

imho its a LOT better than a commander or a '11, no doubt.

i have probably 15 or 20 production and custom emersons and its what i carry edc.
 
That's entirely up to your specific tastes and requirements. I carry a CQC-13 because I've always been partial to the Bowie clip point, and that this knife is perfectly suited to daily chores and utility purposes.:thumbup:
