I'm just looking for input from those of you that may own/use both. Which is the better edc and why? Thanks.

I prefer the SAR3 just because it's a little smaller and has a super comfy handle. The AD is a classic though.

Really depends where you are carrying it,
The AD seems more defensive and the SAR3 woodsy:thumbup:

Depends on how it fits you. What tasks you plan to use it for is a big factor. The look, feel, etc: of a knife is more of an individual thing. They are both very nice and capable edc size tools. I personally had several AD's and did not keep one for any length of time. Lots of folks swear by them.
Find a way to hold and evaluate both and then decide.

What about in every day use? I agree that the AD has a more aggressive profile which I like, it's also slightly thinner which would theoretically make it a better slicer than the sar 3 just wondering how it stacks up to the AD because I'm considering buying one. Thanks for the input so far.

i wasn't keen on the AD but love the BAD and SAR3 - get them both. If you don't like flip em !!

I didn't really care for the AD (a BAD in my case) shape/size factor.

I think the SAR3 would be a better EDC due to its more squatty shape.

I'd say the Active Duty because its EDC handle has the best ergos of any small Busse.

I love my BAD. The handle is comfy in lots of holds. Enough handle for my hands, and 2xl gloves are tight on my mits.

I also edc'd a gw and ss. I like the AD handle best out of those 3. The sar handle is a straighter handle angle than the AD from what I noticed. When I held the Sar3 I did not like the handle feel as much. That is a totally personal thing though. It may have had something to do with the sharper edges on the handle machining, but the handle just did not quite suit my hand as much.

The Bad is a great slicer. I would love a heavier Ad as well for a more robust edc. I carried a convexed GW at .22 that was a real tank, and felt stout enough to do anything!

Thanks for all of the info. I have an AD on the way, I just had to compare them in hand. I considered a BAD but wanted the extra blade thickness.

Well I was going thru this same thought last week on which would be a better EDC Blade, and I went with the SAR3...I love the shape of the handle....I picked one up from Liu Kang yesterday!!!

AD if you want an absolute tank of an EDC, BADs are harder to find, but worth the effort if you want a terrific slicer. Admittedly, the SAR3 handle doesn't appeal to me much -- I'd buy a Warden or a Culti before a SAR3. I know that other folks may love the SAR(3, 4, and 8) series, but you asked for opinions and that's mine.

Sanded my SAR3 handle down in all the sharp spots. It is now the perfect EDC fixed blade... surprising really as to how much more comfortable it is now.
