So which of these is a better EDC (or, if there is something you like more in the same price range, feel free to recommend it): Boker Gemini X-15, Boker HK tactical folder (also for this one, what kind of blade do you recommend? Do I gain anything by going with a black blade or is it just an aesthetics/lack of reflection thing?), or the Benchmade 350 Mel Pardue?
Thanks

personally, I am not a Boker fan. I think you can do a lot better with other companies... Benchmade Spyderco CRKT ETC.... I have had 3 Bokers and wasnt happy with the steel fit or finish. IN fact I threw one into Cherry Creek resv. just shortly after I bought it.

How's the Benchmade 905 Elishewitz? Also, hows the benchmite. I know it's a smaller knife, but is it decent quality?
Thanks

Not particularly a Boker fan myself either(nothing wron gwith them, just don't hit me jsuyt right), but just like choosing a gun, my first advice towards choosing an EDC is always "the one that fits your hand/grip/use best"> Which is one reason the passarounds here are so great, gives you a week to see if knife really fits you and your regular uses well

Speedfan, stay away from those Böker Heckler & Koch folders, they are overpriced rubbish. Böker's linerlocks are iffy, so if you do get a Gemini, examine it first.

From the knives you mentioned, the Benchmade 350 is the better quality folder. Still, a Spyderco Delica or Spyderco Native would make a better EDC in my opinion

Endura II is my EDC, and would be perfect in my mind, if it was somethingb besides AUS6.

And if I ever add on scales to make it look prettier, will even ignore the AUS6. :)

I don't want to get a Native because my brother has one. I don't like the way most spyderco's look though. Plus I like having a good steel for the blade. So, is the Benchmade 350 good. I should mention I have an avalanche. So I'll probably either get a benchmite or the 350 with a full straight not coated blade. I basically want something light, smallish (I would honestly like something between the benchmite and the 350, but I haven't really found anything with a good blade that fills the slot), and won't fold on my fingers. Any ideas? Also, I won't be able to inspect it since I'll be mail ordering (any recommendations for a mail order site? I know bestknives and knifecenter allready)
Thanks,
Richard

If you don't want a Spyderco folder, get an Al Mar SERE 2000...It's a EXCELLENT folder!

So now I think I've narrowed it. How do the Benchmade 556 mini griptilian, 350 mel pardue, and benchmite compare? Also, is the green the 556 comes in a bright vibrant green or a dark green? How about the blue?
Thanks

Ok, I've re-narrowed my selection. It's either the Benchmade 556 with plain blade, Benchmade 350 with the satin blade, or the Al mar ultralight Hawk with talon blade. So, what do you think? I'm leaning towards the 556 for axis, the al mar for the blade material and size, and the 350 for, well I dont know, it just looks kinda cool.
What are your opininos on the best one?
Thanks

The Benchmade 350 is a cool little folder which is actually about to be replaced by the new Benchmade 530 Axis folder:

If you really like the 350, now's the time to get one.

I don't have an Al Mar Hawk, but I do have an Al Mar Eagle which I really like. The talon blade Hawk should be just as classy, but since you mentioned the Benchmade 556, I would go with the mini-Griptilian as an EDC.

The mini-Griptilians come in a variety of "colours" besides basic black:

I suppose this is how collections start. I got an avalanche because I thought the speed safe was cool, convenient, and I wanted a folder. Now I want something a bit classier and less imposing when I pull it out, so I think I'll get the Al mar ultralight hawk for now, then at some point I'll get the 556 and probably the 350 off ebay (i'd like to see something exactly like the 350 but with axis lock, but it doesn't seem like thats going to happen).
Thanks

If you liked the avalanche, you will love the LEEK.

A rainbow leek or chive would be really cool, but I want to try out different companies/mechanisms, and I'm not too keen on 440A blades. I think I'll get the Al mar for now, then pick up a griptilian or the 530 later, and then, who knows.
Thanks,
Richard

It may be that kershaw has won me again. I definitley want an axis lock at some point, but I want something elegant looking that won't scare people like the part serated avalanche. So, now the question is rainbow, black, or black TiNi chive? Is there any mechanical (that's not the right word, but you know what I mean) benefit to any of the colors? Is the black non-TiNi one a high gloss black? Does the rainbow look girly (the pictures I see have a lot of pink in the knife)?
Thanks,
Richard-PS, if you can recommend another dressy, yet high quality knife that is under $70 street price, please go ahead.

stainless handled spyderco kiwi for about $55. around the same size of the chive, excellent VG10 steel, fits my medium-ish hands PERFECTLY, and i've never heard anything from sheeple about my jigged bone(~$80) except "thats a cute knife" :)

I liked that one a lot too, but it's clipless. I like to keep my knives clipped into my back pocket, so clipless just isn't a solution for me.
Thanks,
Richard
