Which is the more favorable knife?

Buck does the heat treat and edge amazingly well on the their 420HC. People seem pretty happy with it. I'd pick the 110 myself based on that and other factors. But, that's strictly my opinion.

IMHO Buck does the best 420HC heat treat on the market with Kershaw a close second. Both these companys 420HC is better than AUS6A with even the good HT Kershaw gives to it.

I don't like AUS6. Never have. I can't get a good edge on it and the edge retention isn't really worth the effort... especially when there are better knives for the same money with better steels out there.

Go with the 110, there's absolutely nothing wrong with 420HC.

What can I say? The Buck is a classic and a bargan. You can't go wrong. I have not tried that Kershaw though so I can't really speak from experience.

indifferent...they are both hard users that will do the job...price would be the deciding factor for me...

I've got both, and it's a pretty close call. On blade steel alone, the Buck may take it, but it would be close. If you can, I'd suggest physically getting ahold of them. They feel different enough in hand that that could be the deciding factor. They're both great knives:thumbup:

I have both of them. The buck i bought brand new in 2005, just a standard model. The wildcat ridge i got from my uncle as a beater, damaged tip & edge, dirty etc. I cleaned it up to brand new, new edge, new tip and i want to possibly put one of them away for my brother for when i think he will be responsible with it and keep the other as a user. I obviously want to keep the better one, his first knife will surely get abused. I have no bias towards either, i would just like to know which will be a better user in the end.

The Kershaws have a nasty tendency to "snap" down when closed. Watch the fingers!:p
