I'm sure this question has been posted before but, what the heck, new neck knives are coming down the pike every day! My favorites are Emerson's La Griffe, designed by Perrin, and Darrel Ralph's design, the CUDA Arclite. The Columbia River CRKT is also a favorite -- like La Griffe, small but to the point.

I only have one neck knife, an Ed Caffrey EBK. Nice knife. I would like to get a Carson F4 in the future in D2 or 420V and really like the looks of Darrel Ralphs neck knives also.

This thing rules! (I feel ten years younger saying that:)) Mine's in D2M.
I've got a Trace Rinaldi Gambit on order, too (just like the one on the forum start page), but will probably use it as a belt knife-don't know yet.

I have several "favorites", but the two that get the most carry time are the Camillus DDR designed Arclite and a custom I have from Lowell Bray in 440c. The Bray is a drop point hollow ground with 3.5" blade and cord wrapped handle.

Emerson Ti La Griffe - you can wear it for running and it will not corrode - ever.

Regards,

Ed

Hey Ed, I'm curious. Is the Ti Lagriffe ALL titanium? If it is, how good an edge will it take? Does it hold the edge?
Thanks

Kit Carson small F4 in 420V. Easy to grip, not too big, cuts like crazy and comes with a great sheath.

I only have one, so I quess that it must be my favorite. It is a Fire Ant by Mike Snody and it is a great knife. It has a 2" ATS34 blade with a micarta handle. It came razor sharp and right now is one of my favorite knives. :)

aramis,

The Ti La Gtiffe is all titanium. The back of the blade has a carbide coating that helps to provide an edge as the Ti wears. I would not say that you could shave with it (would you want too?), but it is VERY, VERY sharp.

(Thanks to Emerson Knives for the picture)

Regards,

Ed

I like the Emerson La Griffe a lot, but my favorite is the Microtech Medallion.

The Medallion is the best compromise I've found of light weight, small size, positive grip, and versatile blade.

Hartsfield Kozuka; silent draw and always scary sharp!

and

M. Carter neck knife; also scary sharp and tough!

my A#1 fav necker is my livesay 'woo' by wicked knife company - paid $20 for it, the cord wrapped model - #2 is my cammilus arclite by darrel ralph, about the same price - either one would be good, the arclite, because of its conventional grind is a better edc or utility imho, while the woo shines in the self protection role........

My favorite is my Raker Little Blue II in hand forged 52100. Absolutely the sharpest knife I own, and an incredible cutter. Next is my Livesay NRGS.

I'm wearing my Arclite today, but I'm also quite fond of the Blackie Collins Buddy System knives. They're light and handy, and the bright colors are very sheeple-friendly.

I have a few "favourites": A Blackwood Talonite, a Blackwood Stellite double edge, partly serrated for kayaking and canoeing,a Tighe double edge with serrations with pointed skullcrusher [wicked sharp!], and a small Hayes tanto in O1. The best fighter probably is my Nealy Pesh Kabz in Mieir damascus/52100 laminate and exotic wood scales. The Nealy carry system is also extaordinary. They each have their special virtues, uses and sentimental value. I love my knives!

Picking a favorite is hard, but I like my Tom Mayo Talonite neck version of the TNT. If Kit Carson would do an F4 in Talonite... For a factory neck knife, the Arclite is a be$t buy. The Camillus mini Talon is a great knife, a bit on the heavy side but I think with some judicious milling, I can pare that puppy down to a more manageable weight. :D

#1 is my Camillus Mini-Talon in talonite.
#2 is my Fallkniven WM-1 in VG-10
#3 is my Fallkniven G-1 in VG-10.
