I was just wondering, I have a BAS with the U.B. on one side, which I know is for Uncle Bill, and is inscribed on all/most Khukris that are produced after his passing. The kami mark on the other side is a "fish", I am unaware as to which Kami's mark is a "fish".

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I found Khadka has a fish mark but it says he does not work for HI.

I couldn't find Lok's mark. Thought I'd seen it before. Sure is cool to actually find the person that makes some of these.

Very personal, very unique.

Bawanna - I found the fish mark for Khadka Ram Bishwakarma as well: however, I think these mark listings are pre-2005 (when uncle Bill was still here).

I've never heard of a Kami named Lok. Dirtbiker, I would love to see his mark referenced, can you send me the link?

I'm thinking it is made by Kami Khadka Ram Bishwakarma, but unsure.

Dirtbiker - You probably right, I found threads with a Lok Kami from about 2009 - 2011. It probably is his. How do you know his mark is a "fish"? I couldn't find any references to hi "mark", but as I can confirm with my BAS, his craftmanship is "spot on", just as others who have had the opportunity to receive his pieces.

Kami Khadka Ram Bishwakarma was one of the old-timers. I doubt that he's been making knives for HI for some time. I don't think he's the same as Sgt Khadka, but the Sgt also hasn't been making knives for HI for quite a while.

I have a Hanshe by Lok kami. His mark is a fish with more detail than most kami marks. Yangdu posted a photo of Lok and two other kamis a while back, when the third shop opened. He's a slim, youngish-looking man. He was new to HI, but very experienced, based on the quality of his work. The Hanshe is very well made.

By the way, Lok should not be confused with Lokendra kami, who did excellent work, including handles carved in the likeness of a ghurka with the traditional hat, and tiger heads. Lokendra left HI a couple of years ago.

p.s.:

I found Yangdu's original 08/06/2012 posting for the Lok blade that I got, an 18" 22 oz Hanshe: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Deals-for-8-6-Pix-Lok-s-Hanshe-and-Great-Buys

The posting said "Lokendra" but I clarified with Yangdu after receiving the Hanshe, and it was indeed Lok. Unfortunately the photos only show the right side of the blade and I don't have it handy right now, but the kami mark is a fish.

Davidf99: I think yopu are right, the fish is very detailed, more so than most other kami marks I've seen. I also purchased this BAS from Auntie less than a year ago, so I am assuming that the Kami is Lok, taking into consideration the time correlations between Khadka Ram Bishwakarma as an old-timer and Lok who is more recent, I am much more comfortable saying that the piece was produced by Lok.

I have sent auntie an email, I'm hoping she can clarify this "fish" mark.

Thanks for the feedback!

makes me wonder if that old farm knife is still for sale lol( the one in the lok hanshee post)

Auntie just confirmed. The "fish" mark for the time frame after U.B. is Lok Kami.
