Which Kami Made This One?

This kami mark is on a terrific AK from UB. It is one of the ones that are 1/2" thick at the spine.

I wondered which Kami made it.

Looks like a Durba, if this is an older blade (pre-2002), and I think it is....Heck, no qualifications needed - Durba :)

Eric.

Kesar used the sign last. Nepali Flag. If your khuk has a half inch spine it sounds like an older one....just might be Kesar. What did Bill call him? Old Reliable, or something?

Or it could be the flag is now used by a newer Kami whom we've not 'met'.

It is the Nepali flag, but I don't know who is using that image now.

Boy do I feel dumb. I thought it was a W with a line.

About 4 years ago (maybe longer) when I was new to HI, I called up and spoke to a guy named Uncle Bill. Had a real good conversation with him and explained I needed a kuk that would not break. He sent me this AK and I have liked it ever since. Uncle Bill sure was right about the kuk being strong. I've liked HI ever since.

Kesar used single strokes on eash part of the flag and not little dots like this one. Durba used the little dots.>>>>>> eswartz

And that may be so. But I just checked a Kesar chitlangi in my safe and it has some dots. It was the orientation of the flags that were most noticable verification between the different Kamis who used the sign.

Steve since you bought it four years ago I'm going to bet it is a Durba made khukuri.
Durba was a really great kami and a lot of us were really sad to see him go.
Durba made some really kick ass khukuris and THE DUCK, otherwise known as Tsimi, jim l. clifton, Jim, and an assortment of other names, some not so flattering had a fixation on Durba Khukuris!!!!
Keep your eye on it at all times when it's out of a secure place or THE DUCK is liable to come out of the ground dew or fog or whatever and steal it from you.
THE DUCK, aka Tsimi, is a sneaky bastard and lives in a cave with one legged dancing girls and bats. ;) :D

You can read up on Tsimi and his devious way's in this thread. Take note and be warned, it is rather long.;)  :D

Hi Yvsa:

OK, Durba made it.

I've got 15 years experience in caves. Only saw bats when I surfaced in a dry chamber, though.

Tsime better wear body armor if'n hes commin for my kuk.

Not a "w" with a line, it is a fish's view of a catamaran.

or the last thing seen by the victim of a saber-toothed tiger,

or....

Keep in mind, the kamis used to toss their marks around like frisbee's. Drove Bill M. nuts.

Nice to have a Durba. Good work.

Sorry Steve, they're all wrong. The "W" with a slash through it is the Nepali sign for "seriously flawed blem!" This one isn't safe to use. Better send it to me and I will safely dispose of it! ;)

Thank you for your guidance and generousity, Norm. It's on the way and I put a $100.00 bill in the box to help ease you burden of accepting it.

Keep waiting by your mailbox for it to arrive!!

Hi Duck:

Holy smoke I'm sorry. I didn't know all this about the extremly nice, strong hardworking Durba kuk with a terrific handle that you don't have. Please forgive me.

By the way.........do you have any suggestions where I should hide this nice kuk?

PS: I have a Durba,Durba, Durba, Durba, Durba, Durba, Durba, Durba, Durba. But I don't want to rub it in!

Keep in mind that Peter Jackson used the Duck as a model for Gollum in LOTR.
