I just recieved my first Himalayan Imports Khukuri today. I am very impressed with the knife and the company as a whole.

My question is this: My knife has on it the crescent moon and the 4 point sun, and the initials "U. B." Which one of the Kamis made it?

Himalayan Imports is the Sun
Bura is the Moon
and Uncle Bill is the U.B.
 
If you dig around on the website you will find a listing of some of the marks. Those marks allow us to connect with the Kamis personally. My favorite is Kumar (mark is a star), but Bura (moon) is the master and makes a wonderful blade. Another to look for is Sgt Khadka, but I don't think he marks his bladew...

Anyone know for sure...Norm?

I have held side by side two 15" ak's, one by bura, one by kumar. with these, there is no comparison -- bura's is much better, imo. the hardening looks to go from the point to the cho, and the craftsmanship is far more attentive, the fullers are better mirrors of each other, and the handle is far more usable for someone with mitts the size of mine.

kumar's blade is very light in the hands... bura's isn't. I like the substance of the piece.
